Car rapidly speed up at full and little time after that heard loud noise in back as driving.today took to mechanic and didn't even get power starting up and then speed up again at full stop and started smoking to. Said power steering went out thought it was that got almost home problem still occurred so did some research and found this recall.
Cadillac Srx stability system/traffic control engages unpredictably and appears to engage anti-lock brakes causing the SUV to seize up and fight against the accelerator. This has occurred 1/2 dozen times in very dangerous traffic areas and dealership does not know how to fix it (and are charging me for their troubleshooting labor).
The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Srx. The contact stated that she experiences difficulty when turning the steering column. In addition, she hears a screeching noise. She took the vehicle to the dealer on numerous occasions, but they could not provide a remedy for the failure. On one occasion, while driving approximately 25 mph, the contact experienced spontaneous acceleration until she reached 60 mph. The contact stated that the front driver's side tie rod fractured. She is in the process of having the vehicle repaired at her expense because the vehicle exceeds its warranty. The failure mileage was 9,000 and current mileage was 41,000.
The contact owns a 2005 Cadillac Srx. While driving between 25-50 mph on normal road conditions, the engine began to rev excessively high. The vehicle accelerated unexpectedly and the contact depressed the brake pedal with greater force in order to stop the vehicle. In addition, the stopping distance was increased. The failure occurred without warning and intermittently. The vehicle was taken to authorized dealers for diagnostic testing on six occasions. The failure could not be duplicated; however, repairs were performed under the extended warranty. The technician stated that there were acceleration issues. The failures occurred approximately 40-50 times. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time. The failure mileage was 45,000 and current mileage was 75,000. Updated 05/15/09 updated 05/18/09.
