Will be driving vehicle and motor will just shut off killing the power steering we took it to dealership and they can not find the problem motor also shakes and sputters and dealership cant figure it out they tried replacing a few things but no luck
2010 Chrysler Town & Country shuts off while driving. Transporting children. Bought used with 42,819 miles. Took to shop Sept and Oct from where purchased due to shutting off while driving. They could not find problem. Took to Chrysler dealer December 2014 and again March 2015 - again, can't find problem. Dangerous. Have to quickly pull off road - it shuts off, steering column freezes. Called Chrysler for help, want more money to check car again. No guarantee they can fix. Recall for ignition problem on cars of this series ran from August 3, 2009 to June 17, 2010. This vehicle was manufactured June 30, 2010. I'm just amazed the issue has not been fixed. Family is at risk in the vehicle not to mention and other cars and or pedestrians nearby when it shuts off. Something needs to be done. I'm expected to drive it to the dealership again. They should really pay for the tow as it's not a safe vehicle to drive.
While driving at 50 mph the van shut off..thank god no one was behind me and no one was hurt. Horrible experience.....I was never notified of any recall.... found that there are several recalls on my van when I looked on the internet......not happy I could have been killed...
Recall L25 was announced summer of 2014. It is now March 2015 and it appears that there are still not parts available to fix the problem. Website indicates parts available but local dealers deny having parts. No one answer phone number on the recall notice but recorded messages denies that parts are available.
The passenger sliding door would not open using any of the remotes, the outside door handle or the inside door handle. The final diagnosis was a failed latch assembly and actuator. However, the Chrysler dealership was unable to make the repair until after a body shop was able to partially separate the door handle bezel from the interior door panel. With the bezel slightly ajar, the dealership personnel were able to insert a clothes hanger to "jimmy" the door handle rod and open the door. The 2 screws that need to be removed in order to properly remove the bezel face forward and are not visible, and are inaccessible, when the door is closed as the B pillar is in the way. The vehicle was out of warranty so we paid for the repair; however, a flawed design that caused a body shop to get involved and required additional time by the dealership personnel added about $190 to the cost of the repair. I mailed a certified letter to Chrysler customer care on June 25th seeking reimbursement for this additional cost as I believe a severe flaw in their design caused this extra expense. To date (October 2, 2014) I have yet to receive a response from Chrysler. If such a failure (unable to open the door using the handles) is possible, this could result in a tragedy in the even of an emergency where someone needed to be removed from the center or rear seat areas.
The ignition turns off. This has happened to me approximately 5 -6 times. Turning a corner, hitting a small bump in the road or just driving. Sometimes I hear the click of the key turning or just feel the loss of acceleration. The car turns off. Most of the time I have been able to put the car in neutral and restart it without any incident. There have been close calls of vehicles avoiding me while I recover from this happening. The problem is fields Chrysler dealership in glenview Illinois wants to charge me $700 to fix this. They claim they replaced the ignition already under the recall which they did a year ago. This is not my problem that the ignition is turning off again!!!!! did you ever hear of a recall on a recall? please help me!!!! I have a 15 yr old son learning to drive and I also drive small children around. I have left several messages with the service mgr at this dealership and with customer service but noone is calling me back.
My husband took my 2010 chrylser Town & Country van to the dealer for the ignition recall. When he arrived home he explained to me that when he left the dealer he had no electric in the vehicle. He returned to the dealer and they told him that he had to be careful not to turn the ignition too far to the left or this would happen. This was suppose to correct a problem not create a new one. I would have thought that NHTSA would have reviewed the fix of the ignition issue and insured that it did not create yet another problem. I returned to the dealer and told them to return my car to the original equipment since I felt the repair was much worse then the risk that resulted in the recall. When will NHTSA take these issues seriously enough to ensure that the supposedly correction of an issue does not cause a greater concern? I had no lights, no radio, no handsfree phone connection once the "recall parts" were installed.
October 1, 2012 started with dead battery. After picking up "fixed" vehicle after two weeks and attempting to drive off lot, the van would not go out of park. After playing with it, it finally went into gear. Check engine light came on. Returned van - it would not go into park. Now December 13. Van still in repair. Have replaced tipm twice and PCM. $1,600. Chrysler says they have never heard of such a problem before.
Traveling in marked 70mph zone in number two lane of westbound traffic. Engine suddenly cut off. Luckily could coast through two lanes to side of freeway. Car started up and got home. Next day, took to dealer who could not find any problems in car's computer. Nor, could find problem when test driving. Dealer said they couldn't do anything more unless there was a recall. I was almost rear ended when engine failed. I also lost steering and brakes, and car was difficult to control until restarted.
I was putting the stow and go seat (behind driver's seat) into the storage compartment. I was holding up the floor board flap in my left hand and used my right hand to lift the folded seat into the floor compartment. As I folded the seat into the compartment, my ring finger on right hand got wedged or caught in the seat mechanism. I could not get the finger out. I returned the seat to the upright position thinking that the finger would become loose and I could remove it. It still would not come out. I was in our garage and my wife was away. There was no way I could get my finger out by myself. I was able to yell to a neighbor who came over. He unscrewed one screw and then used the screwdriver to pry mechanism open sufficient where I could remove the finger. I sustained a broken fingernail and cut to the finger. Had the neighbor not heard me, I would have stuck until someone arrived to help me.
Purchased a used 2010 Chrysler Town & Country March 19,2011..on the second day March 20, 2011 with 17823 miles the car shut off while driving. At that time wasn't sure what was happening. It occurred 2 more times in the next week. Still unsure what was happening. Then on April 5 it occurred again while making a right hand turn. We then realized it was actually shutting off in drive. When it happens everything shuts off (losing power steering etc) making it very difficult to pull over and restart vehicle. We took it to the dealer the next day and they were unable to duplicate the problem and there was no dtcs occurring. Left it at dealer another day and still no duplication. Have had car back for two more days with dealer and still no duplication. So at this point they are unable to do anything for us. The part that is failing we believe is the win module. It is very scary and dangerous. It appears that a recall may be coming out but not sure if it will include our vehicle. Spoke with Chrysler many times and they can not confirm that also they agreed that there is nothing they can do. Will not provide loaner or rental car because of no duplication of problem at dealers. We are very concerned and not sure what to do. Just don't drive very much.
