On the 24th of August, the car was taken in for repairs related to several recalls including the ignition and air bags. After the work was done, the air bag light came on. After speaking to a mechanic over the phone, an appointment was made for septermber 9th. However when the car was brought in to be looked at, the employee I spoke to would not accept the problem as part of the recall work and wanted to charge a diagnostic fee. I have since had the car checked by a different mechanic whose opinion is that the previous work done on the car is what is causing the current air bag problem, and therefore I would like the work to be done without cost to me as per the warranty on the recall work.
According to the dealership (withnell Dodge, in salem, or) there are no open recalls for my vehicle. Except the airbag light comes on and off all the time, and based on my research, there used to be a recall for the airbag module: Recall number: 16V047000 / recall date: 01/29/2016 / component: Air bags:frontal. I have owned this vehicle since 2009, and as far as I know, the airbag control unit has never been replaced as it states in the recall. I asked the dealership to check and confirm the airbag control has been replaced, but they refused unless I was willing to pay for them to diagnose the problem. The problem is still there, and I don't believe this recall has been performed even though the vehicle record shows there is no open recalls. I believe my vehicle has the problem listed in the recall, and I would like for Dodge to repair (free of charge) as stated in the recall.
