The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Magnum. The contact started the ignition and the gear selector would not shift from the park position. There was a recall associated with NHTSA campaign id number 08V583000 (power train: Automatic transmission: Lever and linkage: Column shift). The dealer and manufacturer were notified and they informed the contact that the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact experienced the identical failure as mentioned in the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was unavailable.

Car will not shift out of park, and the BTSI override button does not release it from park. A small pink piece called a shifter interlock oe part# 4578029ac broke. Went to the dealer $172 for the entire shifter (they do not sell the $30 plastic shifter interlock) $187 -2 hours of labor to install. (warranty does not cover this).

2007 Dodge Magnum transmission would not shift out of park. Aaa informed me this is an everyday occurrence with them. Repair for a small plastic replacement piece over $400. Dodge will not recall, why should they when they are able to get away with charging over $400 for this simple repair. Dodge would be foolish to recall when they are making over $400 for this repair.

On Friday, July 1, 2011, my 2007 Dodge Magnum was stuck in park. The car would start and the motor was running, but I could not get the gear shifter to move out of park. I had to have the Magnum towed to the dealership to have it repaired. The dealership performed a diagnosis on Tuesday, July 5, 2011, and called to inform my husband of the problem.............found internal shifter failure adn replaced shifter assembly, and the cost of repairs was $391.51.

Drove the O store, put the car in park as usual. When I left the store and tried to shift into reverse but the shifter would not move. I called Dodge only to be told its not covered. I told them I was aware of how common this problem is and they told me too bad- its not under a recall so its your problem! I found over 300 similar cases online - how can it not be a recall!!

Automatic transmission shifter locked in park and would not move. Vehicle had to be towed to shop.extended warranty company denied claim, saying that this was not part of the transmission. The dealer charged me $500 to replace the shifter. Dodge agreed to pay half, but I believe that this is an ongoing condition of these vehicles that the manufacturer should pay for the fix and not offer me half.

I could not shift the automatic transmission out of park. When the tow truck operator showed up he already had the tools out to release the shifter. He said this is a very common problem with Chrysler vehicles. Going online I have found this to be true. There apparently is a small plastic piece that holds a spring that breaks.

Magnum 6-cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 54,000 miles
The contact owns a 2007 Dodge Magnum. When approaching a complete stop, the vehicle rpms would decrease as if the vehicle would stall. Also the vehicle would lurch forward when attempting to decelerate or while in park. Lastly the gear shifter would not properly shift into gear. The dealer replaced the shifter at the owner's expense. The repair did not remedy the failure. His vehicle identification number was excluded from recall campaign id number: 06V341000 (power train:automatic transmission). The failure and current mileages were under 54,000. Updated 02/01/10
