Dashboard cracked and falling in. Based on other similar reports from the news this can lead to electrical problems causing lights to go off, dashboard to short out, etc.
The dashboard is disintegrating. There are several large cracks that go from windshield to front of dash along with other areas that have actual holes from cracking.
My dash on my 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 truck is collapsing. Pieces are falling inside by the heater core. There does not seem to be any apparent reason for this to happen. There are other Dodge trucks out there that this is happening to also.

1999 Dodge 1500 pickup. Dash board cracked and fell apart from no apparent reason. Dodge would not help in replacing. I had it replaced at a cost of approx $500 so as not to cause an electrical fire.
I am the owner of a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500. I know there are many other complaints about this same problem. The dash board on my turck was in great shape when I purchased the truck. Now within the last couple months the dash board has began to develop large cracks in it, around the right side airbag. The problem have gotten progressivly worse until today, while shutting my hood, a very large chunk and several smaller chunks fell into the firewall area with a couple smaller pieces falling down ontop of the airbag. I am filing a complaint due to a fear that if I was to get into an accident, where an airbag would save the front passengers life, that 1.) the airbag will fail to deploy properly due to chaffing and cuts into the airbag from dash pieces falling and 2.) large pieces of plastic dash will become shrapnal flying around the car of the truck resulting in further avoidable injuries. I am having to replace this dash out of my own pocket. Paying for a problem that countless fellow Dodge owners are having. Look around on any Dodge Ram forum and do a search on dash and you will pull up thousands on top of thousands of posts about the 2nd gen Dodge Ram pick-ups (94-01) haveing the same dash board problem.
Dashboard of 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 quad 4X4 has huge crack running from the windshield to the glove box over the passenger side airbag. Truck has not been offroad, wrecked, or hit anything to cause this crack. At this time I am unsure about what effect this crack may have on the deployment of the passenger airbag.
Plastic on top of dash (dash cap) is severely cracked and is now open to the underside. I feel this is a problem with this make of truck and could damage or hinder the air bags if deployed.
My 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 has a cracked dash and this is the second that I have put in it. There is no reason for them to be breaking and am worried about safety issues with air bags.
There are several people including myself that has bought a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 and the dashes are cracking. I was told it was cracking due to it not having any flexability. Can you help.
My dash has 3 cracks in it one from the windshield all the way back, and the others are 1) from the windshield to about 7" back and 2) from the windshield making a large curve about 14" long. Both of the two on the passenger side are slowly creeping toward the passenger air bag. There was no actions such as crashes that could have caused this to happen.
I own, since new, a 1999 Dodge Ram pickup truck. The truck has 57,000 miles and is well taken care of. Last year I noticed a crack running along the bottom of my dash. After that, they just kept coming one after another. Now I can take it apart like a puzzle. One big piece did come out, leaving a gaping hole. I"M waiting for warmer weather to try to fix it. My concern is, being that the whole dash is in pieces, how secured is the airbag on the pass. Side ?
1999 Dodge Ram 1500 have had 2 dashes in it both have cracked the entire length of dash everyone I know that has one of these trucks has had the same problem dealer would not do anything about it since out of warranty.
