When ridding down the road, I was cut off by another car I turned the wheel to avoid hitting the car and I hit the curb that was about 3 inches high. When I hit the curb my dash board cracked. There is a big hole in the middle, a long crack straight across.I called my insurance company to claim but was denied because of a manufacture default. Dealer said it will cost me about 3,500 to fix. I was only going 7 miles per hour.
Dashboard was falling apart. Pieces were falling down inside the dashboard and could not be recovered. Safety problem from the stand point of if there should be an accident the pieces could cause serious injuries.

The dashboard in the 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 started developing cracks in it a few years after purchase. I tried to contact the dealer pertaining to this, but was told, "sorry, it was out of warranty". the cracks have continued for the past few years despite purchasing a window shade to screen it from the sun. If the cracks continued, entire pieces will begin to fall somewhere behind the dashboard onto electrical components as well as possibly spread to the passenger air bag.
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 pick-up. The dashboard starting cracking a couple of years ago, and now there are some big pieces missing, and the dashboard looks horrible.
The dashboard on the 1999 Dodge Ram truck was cracked. The truck has been well maintained and was housed undercover. The crack appeared about 2 months ago. Our local news reported hundreds of owners with the same problem, indicating there may be a defect in the dashboard of these vehicles.

1999 Dodge Ram 1500, purchased it new. The dashboard has been cracking for the last few years, and has on 5-8-07 broken into itself. No sort of accident has happened because of the defect.
There was no events leading up to it, the dash just cracked. The failure was that the dash cracked in 4 different places and is in danger of falling in or coming apart. It was brought to a Dodge dealer in vero beach and they did nothing about it.
I have a 1999 Dodge Ram 1500 the dashboard in it is cracking and falling in leaving wires exposed to the hot sun it is cracked all around passenger air bag I don't know if air bag still works the exposed wiring looks like fire hazard and headlight possible head or tail light failure this vehicle only has 60,400 miles on it still a lot of life left in this truck except for the dash problem. The last Dodge I will buy unless they stand behind there product good or bad.
