My truck is not equipped with the park break release safety feature, and I want to know why? the last truck I owned before this was a 1996 cherolet and it had it, and my moms 2000 model Chevrolet truck, pickup has it as does my dads 97 model Ford pick-up. But without me knowing it I found out that my 1999 Dodge truck does not have it, but all the Chrysler cars are equpiped with it. Not only did I not know that it didn't have it, but also the police officer that worked my accident, and 3 Dodge dealers did not know this. As a result of my pickup not having this safety feature my grandmother, 4 year old son and myself were in an accident involving a semi-truck. I parked in a lot of a store and left my grandmother and son in the truck only to realize that I had forgot my purse. I came back for it on the passenger side, and ask them to hand it to me, it was on the dash, and when my son pulled it off, it hit the gear shift and went into reverse into the highway, and was struck by a on coming loaded semi-truck. Fortuantly we was not killed, but I was hanging on to the truck trying to stop it, and did get some pulled muscles, and granny got a whiplash. My point is this is very dangerous. If these trucks are not supposed to have this feature they need it, for gods sake before someone is killed. Why does the Ford and Chevy trucks have this, and the Dodge truck doesnt. Please help me!!! and many others before something terrible happens.. you should have to press the break to get these vehicles into gear.!! if its good for one why not the other. It can't be that much more expensive because the rest of them have it, and their no more higher than the rest. Thank you tracy williams please take this into consideration, and let me know something if possible.
