The passenger side headlight does not turn on even after replacement when the headlight switch is in the on position. Dealer has determined that the fault is the tipm (totally integrated power module). Per dealer mfg no longer produces the tipm unit. Per dealer aftermarket no longer manufactures part either. Dealer suggests wrecking yard, however part is a computer based product that still must be reprogrammed by dealer after replacement. This is a safety issue with lighting, and the passenger side headlight will not function without this unit being replaced.

I was driving on highway 64 E near williamsburg speed limit on the highway is 70 mph which is the speed limit at which truck turned off on its own. No hard idling, no check engine light came on just turned off on its own. Power steering was lost along with the brakes and could not control the truck. Had to let it go as it until I impacted in a ditch causing the tire to come off the wheel well, damage to the undercarriage and front driver side bumper. The truck is not safe to drive due to it shutting off and now steers to the left. After some research all Dodge Ram 2006-2011 have experienced this issue but Dodge has not done anything to rectify the problem. This is highly dangerous as it could of resulted in the loss of life if it wasn't because of the amount of soft mulch that braced my impact. I am in the military serving active duty and have come home deployment after deployment and to have it all end because of a faulty vehicle.

Will driving on the highway the truck completely shut off and died. I was not able to safely maneuver the to the road and was almost rearended by the vehicle behind me. I had to get out of the truck and push it across 2 lanes of traffic to get it off the road. After further investigation I found that the tipm in 2006 Dodge trucks are bad. There has been no recall to date and this is an extreme safety liability. This is the first Dodge I have owned and I just purchased the vehicle 3 weeks ago. I will never own another Dodge, Chrysler or Jeep vehicle as long as live. I have researched on the internet through multiple blogs and found that very many people have experienced the same issue some not as fortunate as me and were actually involved in bad car accidents do to this same problem.

The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the total integrated power module failed and needed to be replaced. I was driving on interstate 90 when my truck suddenly shut down for no reason. No check engine lights, just a total loss of power and the steering locked up. I was able to restart it by throwing it into neutral, but it would not restart in park. This has been happening off and on, and no mechanics can seem to figure it out since it doesn't happen all the time. I'm scared to drive it. I have been on dodgeforum.com, and there are many Dodge models/years suffering this problem, but no recall has been issued. This is a major safety issue and I don't know what to do to get it fixed (nor do I have the money to keep taking it in again and again). It "codes out" as an electrical/computer issue of unknown origin that no one has yet been able to fix, despite replaced valves, relays, etc.

Dodge issued an "extended" warranty for the signal really in the steering column. They stated it could break. It really malfunctions- one signaling left it could/would change from signaling left to signaling right. They are aware of this - when I tried to get mine fixed they said that they truck would need to show the malfunction for them to honor the warranty. I feel this should be a recall do to faulty signals (safety issue) I spoke to corporate and they felt the issue was addressed.

Right low beam fails to light. Bulb has been replaced. Socket is good. Failure is in tipm. Appears to be a common problem in 06 to 08 Dodge trucks. Dealer charge $750 to $900 to replace and reprogram tipm unit. This is an extravagant charge for an item that should last the life of the vehicle.

The total integrated power module or fuse box on 2006 Dodge Ram has a known problem of failing. To replace faulty headlight circuit it will cost 1000 dollar because of this tipm. It has a poor design and Dodge should address this issue.

My blinker lever does not work properly. When I use the left turn signal it started to blink to the right. Throughout the rest of the day it would do this intermittently. I was going down a heavy traffic area and used my left turn signal. A car two lanes over slightly behind me starting honking their horn at me because it was attempting to go one lane over to the right. We both tried to go into the middle lane at the same time and I initially thought it was the other driver's fault. I looked at my blinker lever and I did have it in the correct position for a left signal. I then looked at my light display for the blinker and it was flashing to the right. My wife told me about this happening before without me in the vehicle but this I finally got to experience it myself. If it wasnt for my awareness and the other vehicle honking their horn, then we would have collided. Ever since that day I experienced it myself, I have noticed it happening more frequently now. Sometimes I use the blinker lever and I get no turn signal at all anymore except for pressing the lever harder down or up. I am now more concerned about correct turn signals coming from the lever and it takes away from my situational awareness while driving.

The turn signal on the vehicle began activating the wrong signal. At times the signal will not work at all. At other times it signals the opposite direction I am attempting to turn. The signal switch also controls my high beams and windshield wipers. Both of these are also affected at times by the problem. I am very concerned anyone of these issues could cause a serious accident.

The tail light function of the trailer wiring harness stopped functioning. Still have use of brake and turn lights. This is hard to catch on a visual test since I usually check turn and brake functions. Towed for weeks before I was told of the malfunction. Therefore cannot see trailer at night. Dealership could not fix problem.

When the left turn signal is activated, immediately the right turn signal engages. The failure occurs intermittently. I've contacted the dealership and was told there is nothing they can do because the vehicle is out of warranty and manufacturer has not made a recall on my vehicle. This is extremely dangerous especially when entering the interstate.

The contact owns a 2006 Dodge Ram megacab 1500 4X4. The contact was driving approximately 45 mph and attempting a left turn when the left turn signal failed to illuminate. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the problem and they advised the contact there were no recalls related to the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000. Updated 4/2/12 the rear left turn signal did not activate at any speed. The consumer stated it was not a bulb issue, but a computer problem. Updated 04/13/12

Ram 1500 4WD 8-cyl

  • 58,500 miles
Turn signals and windshield wipers malfunction. If I press down on the turn signal lever, the right turn signal is activated instead of the left. Sometimes no turn signal is activated. Also, my windshield wipers will stop altogether without warning. These events occur at random and are hard for me to diagnose. I would estimate that ninety-five percent of the time, the turn signals and wipers work properly. However I am worried that a future occurrence may cause an accident. Please let me know if there is a known cause, and or fix for this issue.
