The contact owned a 2013 Ford C-max hybrid. The vehicle was being towed by a 2009 itasa winnebago motor home. While accelerating from a stop sign, the front end of the vehicle separated from the frame. The vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. It was discovered that the front end bolts had fractured. The cause of the failure was not determined. Forest city Ford (745 us-69, forest city, ia) was notified of the failure. The manufacturer provided case number: Cas [xxx], but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 57,000. I went to open the hatch of my 2013 Ford cmax hybrid and the latch completely came off. It was dangling by the license plate lights cords. I had to put packing tape on it until I got home. I called the dealer and he said to bring the car in. There is no reason why that part should have came off when I went to lift the hatch open. Then I got the warning light that the hatch was not closed. So I had to figure out how to open up the broken lift in order to get the hatch shut. The car was parked when I went to open the hatch

Car electronics will not shut off. Radio remains on continuously, even with keys removed and doors locked. No chimes to indicate if car is on/off. At other times, car navigation and electronic systems will fail. Failures and non-response can happen while in motion. Radio not turning off after engine off and parked.

Rear hatchback latch fails to release. Driver can hear the latch motor activating while driving and door unexpectedly opened while driving which could result in ejecting cargo while the vehicle is in motion. After pulling over and closing the hatchback, it fails to re-open, stuck again, and the process starts all over. Dealership says motor and latch system for the hatch-back is faulty and needs replacing, and issued me a rental car for 3-5 days. They said it wasn't safe for me to drive it. Luckily I happen to have an extended warranty however because this is a safety issue I'm reporting it. I've had latch problems with the side doors in the past, however those were fixed after a recall. Side doors have some latching issues that continue but have not opened unexpectedly while driving like the hatchback.

While driving the door ajar went on. I pulled over and I noticed that the lift gate was opened (on its own) and couldn't close. I visited Ford and based on the recall fsa 16S30 I assumed it would be covered since they told me that the lift gate latch was defective. They informed me that the recall only covers all 4 side door latches and the lift gate is not part of it. This is a major safety issue that needs to be addressed,

The contact owns a 2013 Ford C-max hybrid. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V643000 (latches/locks/linkages). The part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair. The dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer could not provide an estimated date for when the vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact had not experienced a failure. VIN tool confirms parts not available. Drivers side door handle plastic chrome on the inside has come up and cuts your hand. It seems to be a defective handle but since my warranty is up they want to charge me $350 for the handle plus whatever time it takes to replace it. I have put a piece of tape on it for now but it looks terrible.

The lift gate repeatedly continues to crash down on my shoulder and back after having to physically lift open the lift gate because the buttons or controls to opera lift gate would not work would not open without me lifting it when I completely opened it and went to lean in my leased Ford cmax the lift gate came down crashing onto on my back shoulder neck as I was leaning well into the rear hatchback area.this continues repeatedly having to physically open lift gate and then it crashes back down on me without touching any buttons or even trying to close it.I reported incident at time I took leased Ford in again for recall service and still Ford says the recall work is complete and the liftgate actuator has never been replaced after multiple complaints and multiple attempts to bring it to dealership for service on our leased cmax.this has been reported to Ford dealership and had to go into Ford for warranty recall notice of lift gate actuator was to be replaced as well.the lift gate continues to have issues and will come down while I am underneath and it has to be manually closed and opened buttons work occasionally never for longer than a week besides it comes down and actually bounces back up off my body to come crash down again before I can try to get away.
