My car has 44,000 miles and the pistons blew. This is an obvious defect. However, ford says I was low on oil. I always kept my oil changed. Even if that was true my engine should not have blown the pistons for such a new model. I will never buy Ford again.

Mustang 5.0L

This is my second trip to the shop for issues with my 2011 Mustang GT( keep in mind I've owned two other mustangs that didn't make these noises), The first issue was a knocking noise and a grinding noise when brought up to 2000-3000 RPM's. They said they fixed it by messing with the timing chain tensioners. The moment I left the shop I heard it again. They said it was no longer there! So the next day I took my car back to Long McArthur Ford and told them that it's still there, I would like the issue fixed. So they diagnosed it this time as a piston slap (Sh*t!!) and remapped the fuel system. I would like to know how doing an electronic fix will repair a mechanical problem.

Again they said the problem is fixed and sent me home with my car. The drive out of the dealership, I notice that the problem is still there. Knowing now that it is a Piston Slap and that the dealership is coping out of the problem, like with my other cars and their issues. I Called the dealership AGAIN, telling them that the problem is not fixed and that I wanted to bring it in again. They wouldn't take my car, telling me that they did all they could do. With the frustration and flat out refusal to acknowledge the problem with my car, and continually telling me that Piston Slap is "normal operating function" I decided to call Ford's Corporate Customer Service Department. They contacted the dealership to force them to let me bring my car in again.

Third trip to the dealership for my 2011 Mustang GT. This time Ford's Corporate Office forced Long McArthur Ford to take my car in again, because the previous two visits they said they "fixed my issue". The issue had been diagnosed as piston slap. I hear a knocking noise and a grinding noise around 2000-3000 RPM's. The car was in the shop for two days only for them to tell us that there was nothing more for them to do, that piston slap is part of normal operation. I'll leave an update on another "complaint" we talk to Corporate office Tomorrow again about the issue. I am so sick of the horrible service with this dealership, with all the cars I've had. I have bought so many Fords, including two other Mustangs. I'm at the last straw and am about to switch to another brand unless Corporate can help me.

Mustang GT 5.0L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 40,000 miles

After driving home from the gym (40mph) My engine started a loud knock. Reminded me of the sound of a lawnmower. First I was told I didnt have a warranty by the service man who specialized in Mustangs. Then he told me I had a 50,000 mile powertrain. I informed him I had a 60,000 mile warranty standard. It was towed per my expense to the dealership. They spent the next day giving me ZERO answers but looked for 2 days for reasons as to not have the warranty pay for it. i checked on it the 3rd day and no one had a clue they even had my car. I finally called 5 days later and still nothing. Called Ford customer service for them to tell me i was getting a "NEW" engine and it was ordered. Thats something because I didnt even know they had figured anything out. I was never notified. I get an email from them stating I WASNT getting a new engine. They were just going to rebuild my engine. ITS ONE YEAR OLD. I DONT WANT A REBUILT ENGINE! I filed a formal complaint and thats where I am now.
