throttle body failure

I am a former owner of a 2013 Ford Mustang V6 Premium convertible and I am here to say Ford has failed us. My engine light would come on around 120,000 and say gas cap loose which I did not have so the light would go off and on. I took it to Ford but they said nothing much was wrong with it but that. A few weeks later my gauges would start to go crazy and RPM would drop to 0 and car would accelerate on its own while chugging back at the same time.

The problem began to get worse so a mechanic recommended to get a new throttle body which I did. It fixed the problem for about 1 month before the car started going crazy again. Exact same thing - only this time more intense! I was going about 70 on the highway when my gauges started to fail and my car began to slow down and speed up on its own. I quickly put on my hazards and slow down to exit. Before I could make the next exit my car accelerated and I tried to brake but the steering wheel got really heavy and veered off to the left on its own and I had no more control over the vehicle and could only brace for impact.

I was fortunate i did not hit anyone or vice versa. I was not hurt but it could have been ugly! My car was a total loss and insurance took car of it but I have read multiple problems on this matter! Ford has to do something! People will die.

Just had a new Ford throttle body installed on my Mustang 3.7 liter engine because the car would almost shut off at highway speeds and chug. It did this several times and almost had an accident getting to the road shoulder. Had the throttle body replaced with a new Ford part. It worked for about two weeks and started to do the same thing over again on the freeway today, twice. Wrench light came on and managed to get to the road shoulder between two trucks. It started up again after each event. Is there a cure? This is very dangerous and scary.

Electronically controlled throttle body causes the car to suddenly go to idle and no power to move vehicle. After letting the car sit for a short period of time the engine will start and run for a while. This happen to me three times yesterday before I was able to get the car home. This is the second time in 14 months and less than 7,000miles to have this problem.

I called Ford Customer Service and was told that my vehicle is not covered under the 10 year warranty extension which other Ford vehicles are. How can Ford tell me that my vehicle is not covered when it is the exact same problem that the other vehicles are having. This is a well know problem with the throttle bodies that has been going on for several years and Ford apparently does not want to address the issue on all vehicles that are affected with this electronic throttle body issue.

I am fuming mad. I love my Mustang but this just might make me look at a Dodge.

Same issue on Ford Escape and seen numerous complaints on Mustangs....Ford has extended warranty to fix the Ford Escape but will not admit that this same issue extends to the Mustang !!! Very bad when you're driving and all of a sudden you have no throttle control!!!
