Car developed loud groaning noise then lost power steering assist at 60 k. Extended warranty fixed issue. Warranty absorbed the 600 dollar cost. Currently power steering just failed at 117k without warning (no groaning). Also no warranty now. Fluid levels are fine but turning vehicle is near impossible for my wife. As this is her mode of transportation, this is a problem. Fortunately, the problem occurred in our housing division and at low speed and she was able to return to the driveway. Mechanic told me this is a chronic problem with the steering and that we were lucky to have the issues spaced so far apart.
