My Acadia has been shuddering for over a year. I have replaced the fluid at the proper interval and have never mistreated this SUV. It is frustrating that this continues to happen and nobody has been able to figure it out.

Acadia Denali 3.6L V6

  • Automatic transmission
  • 95,000 miles

Car shudders when going up a slight hill or big hill while trying to maintain a speed that is around a gear change (i.e. 20mph or 43mph). I've learned to drive around it by driving just below or above the speed of a gear change. If the car shudders the best thing to do is let go of the gas, drop your speed, then accelerate quicker than normal to push to the next gear.

There is a serious problem with these GMC Acadia's transmissions. There have been so many issues on so many websites of people (wish I had seen this before) of people having problems with transmissions failure. There are so many issues it seems as though GMC would take a closer look and say well maybe we did do something wrong and fix the damn problem. There are way too many issues with the transmission is this year for GMC to be turning their heads.

Acadia SLT 6L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 120,000 miles

For the last year now, we have been managing a transmission problem. It started out at highway speeds around 65 MPH. The drive would shutter and the car would slightly buck. After putting fuel injector cleaner in, it got a little better for a short period of time. One year later, the shuttering starts at lower speeds and the fuel injector cleaner does not work. I have the transmission flushed by the dealer and the normal tune up on 20K miles ago. Tomorrow I am dropping it off and hoping for some type of relief.

Acadia SLE 3.2L V6

Last February I had taken the car into the dealership with some complaints of shuddering and vibrating when reaching 50-55mph, it was there for normal service and I asked them to check that stuff out. They told me they couldn’t the car to do the shuddering or vibrating, so I said okay and drove home, well on my way home it started doing it. Mind you, when I had taken this in, it was still under the extended warranty. I was at 98,000 miles, I had mis read my warranty paperwork and thought I had the extended warranty until 200,000 mikes (dumb I know) so I was in no hurry to get it back in, because I didn’t live to close to the dealership. Come March I had taken it back in and complained about the issue some more, they said they didn’t know what I was talking about, but it was probably my brakes. (Not my brakes) so I took it to a reputable transmission guy up by me, and he said it was my transmission going and he got the car to do it multiple times while driving it. It needed a transmission replacement. $5000. It came with a 3 year or 100,000 mile warranty. It’s a gm certified brand new transmission. We’ll skip ahead 8 months and the damn thing started doing it again. I take it to the dealership, warranty in hand, they say the car isn’t doing anything. Contacted gm directly, and after all of my fighting with them, nothing. They’re worthless. I’ve always taken care of the car, did the 100,000 mile service, always kept up on my service stuff. And the car is a piece of crap. And I’m out $5000
