The contact owns a 2008 general motor company Sierra 1500. The contact was driving in reverse 2 mph out of the drive way when smoked emitted from the rear of the vehicle. The contact stopped the vehicle and confirmed that the drivers side rear tail light marker assembly was on fire. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and a private mechanic. The private mechanic confirmed that there was a defective marker tail light assembly. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 120,000.
Headlights dim when the brakes are applied, when the truck shifts from 1st to second gear and when the blinkers are used at interstate speeds. Contacted GM and have been told this is normal in all vehicles. Also have had 3 door lock actuators and 1 window motor replaced. Had to have the front steering/rack and pinion replaced. Currently having problem with front door not opening.
