About These NHTSA Complaints:
This data is from the NHTSA — the US gov't agency tasked with vehicle safety. Complaints are spread across multiple & redundant categories, & are not organized by problem.
So how do you find out what problems are occurring? For this NHTSA complaint data, the only way is to read through the comments below. Any duplicates or errors? It's not us.
I have tried to resolve this with san bernadino GMC and inland valley GMC. No satisfaction yet. Brakes go out on an average of 5000-6000 miles. Now, GMC will not warranty them any longer because of my problems. Steering wheel noise has got better but not fixed yet. Had this since I have had the vehicle. Vibrating in rear end, occures after warm. Continouse problem.
We have reported excessive brake wear and pulling to the manufacturer. When brakes are applied, vehicle pulls sharply to left lane. Dealer has replaced pads and rotors and calipers six times in 10,000 miles. Other owners are experiencing same problems. Manufacturer rep says to just pull harder on steering wheel. We have also contacted better business bureau for buyback. GM service managers tell us this is manufacturing problem and cannot be corrected.
When brakes are applied vehicle pulls to the left, resulting in extended stopping distance. Dealer has inspected vehicle. Still the rear brakes do not hold and left front brakes lock up causing vehicle to pull to the left.
Rear axle fell off of the vehicle while driving on a major freeway. When the axle fell off we lost complete braking capability. The vehicle was just released to us from the dealership for repairs to the same parts under warranty. This was the fifth time it was repaired under warranty for the same parts that failed.

Every time vehicle is driven with the headlights on, headlights flicker on and go off. Vehicle has been taken to the dealership four times in a six-month period. Dealer was not able to fix the problem. Also, doors are warped/engine runs rough/replaced differential/brakes are locking up.
ABS brakes are locking up in wet conditions, and front brakes have completely worn out within 10,000 miles. Owner has taken in vehicle 5 times to 2 different dealers, but problem still exists.
While driving and applying brakes, vehicle pulled either right or left. Contacted dealer and manufacturer, and they were not able to help. This has happened five times.
Intermittently when the brakes are applied under normal conditions vehicle pulls either to the left or right. Dealer has attempted to correct the problem. Manufacturer has been notified, and agreed to trade vehicle back under the lemon law.
Fuel pump has been replaced two times due to loud noises. Also, transmission was replaced because it did not shift gears automatically, rough switch. ABS brakes did not operate properly, causing extended stopping distance. In addition, two tires replaced in the rear due to vibration of vehicle. Dealer contacted, and are attempting to remedy the problems that exist. Provide further information.
My Suburban is experiencing loss of brakes. This is an intermittent problem that has happened 2 times. There is complete loss of all brake power/pressure when this happens. It has bee reported through internet bulletin boards this has happened on more than one vehicle. The GMC Corp. Will not replace any parts to fix the problem since it will not fail when brought to the dealer.
Whenever T ABS brakes wer applied, vehicle would be pulling to the right. Had taken vehicle to dealer & the mechanic swapped the rotors & the tires. Also the right front calipers were swapped.
Ongoing problem with ABS system; whenever brakes are applied hard, they cause vehicle to wander. Dealer notified on two occasions, and problem cannot be resolved. Seeking help from NHTSA in this matter before an accident occurs.
The braking system has always been slow, ie..when trying to stop, I can push, and push and the car wont stop. When stopped at a light, the burb will "jump" my foot does not leave the pedal, nor do I release any pressure from the brakes. The vehicle was serviced, and I was informed there was nothing wrong with the brakes, and the "jumping" was caused by the transmission trying to make up pressure when the air conditioning was running. Well, now my brakes squeel like a banshee, and im still jumping when stopped, wether my airconditioning is on or off. I almost hit the car in front of me today, while I was stopped at a light,

Vehicle was moving on the interstate while at 65 mph on cruise control. The automatic gear shift column was struck by the passenger and the transmission was sent into reverse. This action caused the brakes to lockup and the control mechanical lock on the wheel column was locked into a right hand turn with no way to control the vehicle. The vehilce started to skid out of control and then proceeded to roll over three times. All occupants were in saftey belts except my daughter who was int the back seat asleep. The vehicle was totally destroyed. It took resecue crews to remove myself the driver and daughter who was trapped in the back. We were transported via ambulance to a local hospital. All five passengers were released with only minor bruises and cuts. I would like to find out why the steering column lock and why a safety feature is not provided to keep the transmission from being accidently put into reverse while the vehicle is traveling in drive. Please help me find a solution to this potential problem.
When the brakes are applied vehicle pulls to the left or the right, and under slippery or wet conditions the pull is harder. Dealer has been contacted, and has worked on them six times.
