Center instrument panel controls and displays fail to function on periodic occasion. Panel illumination flickers on and off. This occurs while vehicle is in motion. There is recall for this particular issue but my local GM dealership says our VIN is not listed in this recall. Id#09V489000

I am adding on additional information to my previous complaint #10938600. GMC sca #14159, 14232, 15810, 12313, and my transmission failure all seem to fall victim to excessive heat. I was pulling into traffic when the transmission failed. My Terrain has fallen victim to three possibly four of the five calamities. There is no reason to believe all five will not fail under the same driving conditions. Somehow not once did warning lights come on for multiple engine oil occurrences, nor for my transmission failure. I was an HVAC chiller technician for 28 years. When I hear ECM referenced, as in sca#12312, I have to ask which values were changed and why. Thermistors and pressure switches designed to protect vital engine compartment components run through the ECM yet no warning. My transmission failed on December 4, 2016, the catalytic converter may be bad, the steering gear is suspect, and the engine warning lights have not done what they are supposed to do. The unnecessarily long delay in addressing the oil consumption issue outlined in sca#14159 probably compromised my engine in other ways. Sca#12313 resulted from GM delaying the repair of sca#14159 for so long. What, why, and how. We know what is failing. Simply replacing the part in kind or similar is not addressing why. How do we keep it from happening again is definitely not being addressed. Safety as well as quality issues are at hand here. GM has ignored my requests for all information regarding sca#14159, 14232, 15810, 12313, and 12312, as well as the transmission. Why they are failing is excessive heat. That is just my guess. They know what it is. I can not afford a costly transmission bill that only finds me back in an unreliable vehicle with some serious safety issues.

Requesting a recall on the 2010 GMC Terrain. Mileage that was on the sticker was incorrect. Far from the truth. Major oil consumption, never seen anything like it. Tapping noise was reported @ 3,000 was told it was normal. Knew it was not. Had to replace camshaft, electrical problem, head lights constantly going, never lasting anytime. Will now have to replace transmission and probably engine. GMC stated they have no record of any problems with the Terrain they stated if there were any problems there would have been recalls and that the NHTSA would have done this. Will this be done" not sure how GMC is getting away with this. So many complaints on line. Are there any class action suits for the Terrain? can we start one" there are plenty of people with the exact same problem. Not even similar it's exact.

I purchased this vehicle last May 2015 with no warning indicators working my vehicle loss excessive oil and now needing a new engine, how does a vehicle lose 4.5 quarts between a oil changes. Now I'm stuck with the cost of repairs for installing a new engine and the extended warranty and GM motors refused to help me with repairs. I have six children at home I provide for and now will be eating a new engine at the dinner table for the next four years! thanks a lot GM for not living up to your name im going to Toyota next vehicle. The good thing I was parked at a store when the vehicle gave out with no warning!!!!!!!

In motion. Highway and street. The defrost system stopped blowing to clear the windshield area. It would blow into passenger area either cold or so hot you could hardly hold your hand in front of the vent. When you shut the vehicle off you can readily hear a knocking sound from the dash for several minutes. The radio also shut off along with all the radio illumination initial problem date: Dec 27, 2015. The inability to defrost is a continuing problem to present time.

Okaythe truck first started with the car alarm going off at anytime. We went to the dealership and said nothing was wrong. We took it home and nothing. Then the everything in the front board (radio screen, dashboard) was staying on when no one was in the car an off when someone drives it. We took it back to the dealership and and said something about the a timer. We bought warranty and it didn't cover it. Okay, I ask if it would be a problem to wait 2 weeks for I can have money to fix it later and they said yeah. A couple of days after. A family member drives the car on the freeway and the car just shuts down on her. We took it back to the dealership and now they are saying it's the camshaft. The warranty doesn't cover that either. Still being patient, I declined service because I had not enough money for the fix and find odd that is a different problem. Couple days after, the car won't turn on. It would only turn on when it feels like it. Long story short. Took it back to the dealership and now they are say is the battering. Got into an arguments talk to every supervisor because they don't know whats the problem but whatever it is is not covered by the warranty. Was able to get GM to pay something for repairs and paid only deductible. Car is fix from everything. Okay week, later the car is repeating the steps. Took the car immediately to the dealership and they are saying there's nothing wrong. I'm getting frustrated now, they are not checking the car and it gets worse when I bring it back.

I purchased the vehicle 12/13/09. Beginning around 3/26/10, I first noticed that my hatchback was open when I went to get in to go to work, and it had been parked overnight. This has happened in the vicinity of 15-20 times since that date. I thought somehow I was accidentally pushing the release button on the key; however, I often would not have had the key in hand or in my pocket to do so accidentally. It last happened about 2 weeks ago, I walked out to my parked Terrain in the garage at my apartment, and the liftgate was wide open. Nothing has been stolen yet, but I am careful not to leave anything in it or at least in sight.

We have a 2010 GMC Terrain and the hatch door opens on its own. It occurs while parked and while driving, happening several times a week and often several times a day. We have closed and locked the door/car with the button in the car, with the key and manually and it still occurs. The hatch latch has been replaced but the problem continues. Not only could something fall out of the back and cause an accident, it leaves us open to theft as well as being a nuisance and a worry.

I was going about 40 mph about to get on the freeway, when my car begin a loud noise, shaking, and dropped speed to about 20 mph. The dashboard said something also about no power, no matter how much I pushed the gas pedal, car would not accelerate. Instead of getting on freeway I pulled over to a gas station. I cut the car off and left off for a minute. I cut it back on and was running normal. I immediately went to the dealership where I was told there was a recall on the throttle body and they would replace for me. The problem is that no one bother to notify me, and if I had not had this problem might not had known.

I started receiving a warning to service passenger air bag whenever my oldest son sat in passenger seat. It did not occur whenever anyone else sat in the seat so I did not immediately act upon warning light/buzzer. Recently I had a problem with the air conditioning compressor, so when brought to the dealer, they found a bad electrical sensor connector under the passenger seat that was only activated when my son's weight was in the seat. A heavier person closed the connector circuit, a lighter person was not registering in the seat. If an accident had occurred, a passenger air bag malfunction could have occurred with serious consequences.

I own a 2010 GMC Terrain 4 cyl. I have had several different service problems with my vehicle since June 2010. Although the service department at my dealership has been cooperative and understanding through all the service jobs performed on the vehicle, it has become disheartening and frustrating that my vehicle continues to give me problems with electrical, engine won't start up, static from radio, not able to play iphone through usb connection at times, random warning lights coming on and off on display console. I have been given several reasons of "could be" or "maybe" but never an actual concrete reason for all the numerous problems. The computer system apparently gives false readings on occasion to service department at the dealership about error codes and messages or no error messages will come up, even though there might be issues with the vehicle. My concern is with all the electronic issues, engine issue of not starting up, computer messages or lack of messages to the vehicle when there is an issue.. if I am driving the vehicle and don't know there is a problem because the computer system within the vehicle does not accurate report correct data about the status of the vehicle, then how do I know when to get the vehicle to get serviced before I am stranded with my children or worse yet, get into a car accident because of the vehicle's computer malfunction. My dealership in my hometown can only do so much with information provided by the manufacturer; so if they don't know what type of fixes to make, then my vehicle is not updated with necessary fixes when appropriate.

Multiple problems: 1) front right tire well hole/leak found while investigating a complaint of mold odor inside car. 2) initially, the usb and A/C were malfunctioning. Then the car radio stopped working; and now the car will not start (possible electrical shortage related to the above leak?) I tried to charge the battery; however, I believe something may be draining the battery as it keeps dying.
