The contact owns a 2014 GMC Terrain. When the tailgate was ajar, it independently closed. The failure was persistent. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the liftgate struts failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 22,000. Updated 12/21/16 the consumer has since traded the vehicle. Updated 12/22/16.
