problem #2

Terrain SLE-2 4 cyl

  • Automatic transmission
  • 63,590 miles

Transmission does not shift well, almost like jumping into next gear too fast or too slow. Dealers can never see the problem because they only drive it for 15 minutes. Doesn’t happen all the time but just waiting for it to stall or cause a major accident/death.

manual mode transmission will not up/down shift How many Terrains have this problem? The manual shift is not normally something you would use every day, but on trade in it will likely cost. Please let me know if anyone has the same issue.

I called GM Customer Care, around the last week of July and I just got my answer answer today August 18th after many calls. I am told it will not be covered under the power train warranty. Anyone with a Terrain should likely check and see if theirs is working while still under the 60,000 km warranty. The transmission control module is covered, but the body control module is not. only under 60,000 km. The cost to repair is about $550.00 dollars. The Power train warranty is for 160,000 or five years. I have at present about 125,000

My disagreement is that Powertrain is transmission and covered but using Manual is not Put the vehicle in Manual transmission position and you stay in one gear. Transmission shift does not work. I would expect it to be covered, and strongly disagree with GM decision. I guess beware of warranties as you have no idea what you are getting. GM used to cover wheel bearing but no longer under power train since a few years. What next? I only found out that it didn't when I tried to use it at about 125,000 km. No help offered from GM Customer Care to fix my problem.

I have owned a number of GM and Chevy vehicles over the years including a Yukon XL Denali but with no interest on the part of GM, this will likely be my last. I will add any update of problem or if their has been any change.

Does your Manual transmission on any year up and down shift???????????
