At first the stabilitrak light came on and off a few times. Then all of a sudden the car will not start. The stabilitrak light keeps coming on saying it has been shut off. It has been to the mechanic and he could not figure out what was the matter. It was towed to another mechanic who also can not find the problem. It is still there after 3 weeks. It never throws any alarms on the tester that the mechanics hooks it up to. I am driving a borrowed vehicle while mine sits in the shop, waiting for an answer.

Yukon LS

  • Automatic transmission
  • 130,000 miles

Driving down the road all is well Stabilitrac off comes up on the message center car loses all power. I was on a back road in the middle of nowhere. So far this is the worst car I've ever owned. This is one of many problems we are reporting on here for this car. Wish I would have seen the site before we bought this POS.

Yukon SLT 5.2L

  • Automatic transmission
  • 126,000 miles

My wife called me to report that she had big rigs on her tail going up hill and could get no more than 25MPH as she was forced to pull over in the truck lane out of traffic.

The Truck shut down in traffic several times in LA Traffic...

This occurred the first time in December...I thought it no more than a glitch.

It happened again on January 11th and January 13th.

This happened again on January 15th and again on January 16.

I took the truck in to the dealership on 17th and some guy named Larry said well the car has some miles on it.

That would be 127,614 highway miles people.

Why would a car with so few miles be having this type of problem.

The vehicle was in the shop with a little over 65,000 miles with a limited slip differential problem which the dealer fixed.

As a die hard buy American retired Marine..I am frustrated with this vehicle.

I see that others have had a problem with the stabilitrak unit also...

Please let me know if there is a recall, in that this problem is extremely dangerous!

Thanks!

Update from Jan 17, 2011: Took my car to the GM service center in Victorville today and service Manager Chuck had me talk to larry that did a service report...

He stated that they would have to start with the vehicle throttle body and replace it at a cost of $561.00 and see if that would fix the problem...

Tried to sell me a tune up at over four hundred dollars and a fuel system clean up at an additional $140.00

At a cost of over $1100.00 including tax...My family could be safe again...

I didn't have that kind of money in this economy!

He stated thet the vehicle has over 125,000 miles on it and that things are bound to start breaking down...

I am so turned off to American Cars and Trucks...I thought that we had come up to par with foreign cars, but obviously GM is still trying to figure it out, while they endanger the lives of families across this country!

Any way this is what I found on the stabilitrack problem, apparently it has happened with several GM Models over the years!

This is a dangerous situation...

I did research on this stabilitrack problem and found this!

Complaint #57 of 102... 2007 GMC Yukon engine stalls by mamom Feb 16, 2010 (5:44 am) I own a 2007 Yukon with approx 40K miles. Twice in the past three months the check engine light has flashed on for about two seconds and when that happened the engine derated and then all is fine. The other day on a trip the engine light flashed on and did the same thing. About 20 minutes later it did it again but this time the messages that flashed are stabilitrack disabled, engine power reduced and then the car shut down on the highway going 70+ miles and hour. The car then would not start. My husband wiggled some wires and the car started. We got to our destination and then home no problem. We took it to a mechanic to check the codes before bringing it to the dealer. NO codes showed up on the computer. Any thoughts on what this could be? I drive this car with my children all the time and do not feel safe.
