Dash is cracked next to the air bag toward the windshield and is dropped down. Afraid if it keeps dropping down or is bumped hard will set the air bag off. If the air bag goes off the dash could shatter causing damage to whoever is in the vehicle. Afraid it being next to the air bag.
I too have the cracked dashboard in my 2011 GMC denali. Not only is it a safety hazard, because apparently its a labor intensive job no one will take on the task of fixing it. I bought the replacement dash and I cant find anyone to install it. The rattle noise it create is unimaginable as now a locking clip has broken. I'm totally at a loss as to what to do. It has also decreased its trade in value. I went to buy another vehicle and they dropped the value by $2,000 because of the dash. My only hope is that I don't end up in an air bag incident as I'm confident the dash will shatter and launch projectile pieces.

My dashboard is cracking for no reason. There is a crack where the passenger side airbag is installed. I'm concerned that in the event of an accident, items like the speaker in the dash board will become projectiles. I am also concerned that if the airbag deploys then potentially shards of broken plastic will also be flying through the cabin.
Dashboard has two creaks at passage air bag. Vehicle also has takata recall with no resolution. I am concerned dash may injure passage if air bag inflates. Yukon always garaged, mileage 38,000.
The dashboard around the airbag is cracked. The dashboard in front of the driver is cracked in 2 places. In the event of a crash, the dashboard could become a projectile due to the numerous cracks.
Cracked dash on my 2011 Yukon. When I paid almost $50,000 for a new vehicle I expect it to last longer than 70,000 miles before it starts breaking. My dash is cracking in the same place as the rest of the world. It is only a matter of time when my air bag is going to explode because of the dash and one of my children will be injured. Is that what it's going to take?
I have two cracks on my dash one at the passenger side air bag it is about one inch long.the other cracks is much longer.if is on the drivers side near the area that is humped up at the steering wheel. When I bought this car the cracks were very small the one near the steering wheel just keeps getting bigger!
The dash cover is cracking and is broken. This is happening close to the passenger airbag. I'm just waiting for the airbag to explode while I am driving. This is so unsafe!! my kids are in danger.
I'm a 2011gmc Yukon owner that has a cracked dash that in only a matter of time is going to affect the air bag. When I reached out to GMC, they told that I would have to wait for an accident to happen before they would look into the problem.
Our dashboard cracked on a 3 year old car - the local dealer "repaired" it and the repair lasted all of a day. The crack got progressively bigger and GM refused to cover any of the cost to replace, telling us our only option was to replace the entire dash at a cost of over $1200. We have had it patched by a local repair place who did a better job than the dealer, but the dash still vibrates to the point of shaking and the patch is now coming apart again. The actual crack is now over a 1/2" big. We are worried about the airbags deploying and the sharp plastic causing serious injury.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard was cracked approximately eight inches above the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
The dashboard has progressively being cracking for over a year. It has now become very bad in two areas. Above the airbag on the passengers side and all around the housing above the odometers there are several long cracks. I am very concerned that the spreading rate will increase with pieces possibly creaking off and should an accident occur that shard's of plastic could injury passengers or my children. I have contact GMC and they have told me that they do not see any problem and that they would not address this situation. After reviewing the internet thoroughly it is very apparent that there is a defect problem and they do not wish to address. I am more than disappointed that GMC do not take this matter seriously.
The contact owns a 2011 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that the dashboard had fractures over the passenger side air bag housing. The contact also stated that the center of the dashboard had fractures and separated near the defroster. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the entire dashboard needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 39,500.
