The contact owns a 2015 GMC Yukon. The contact stated that there was an intermittent electrical failure that caused the rear tail lights to short out. In addition, on several occasions, other motorists alerted the contact that either one or both tail lights were out. Gettel Chevrolet Buick GMC (1901 tamiami trail, punta gorda, fl 33950, (941) 347-6817) was notified, but could not duplicate the failure. The failure continued intermittently. The contact purchased the vehicle from vision Buick GMC (800 panorama trail S, rochester, NY 14625, (585) 200-3905) and they scheduled an appointment for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer had not issued an electrical system recall to provide a permanent remedy. The manufacturer provided a case number and was to follow-up with the dealer and the contact. The approximate failure mileage was 48,000.

The contact called [xxx] at 817-264-7746 (located at 501 tx-114, grapevine, tx 76051) and was informed that the tail light was a sealed unit that needed to be replaced as a whole. The contact stated that the repair was too costly for a simple burned out bulb. The contact called it a design flaw. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, stated that nothing could be done, and offered the contact a small discount for an oil change. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure occurred twice, once with the passenger side brake light and the second failure was with the driver's side brake light. The vehicle was taken to boulevard Buick GMC (2800 cherry ave, signal hill, ca 90755, (562) 492-1000) for both failures and the contact was informed that the tail lights needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures. The failure mileage was 48,000.

The vehicle was taken to beaman Buick GMC (located at 1531 broadway, nashville, tn) where it was diagnosed that the tail lamp assembly malfunctioned and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the passenger side tail lamp assembly previously failed and was replaced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000.
