My car was 5 1/2 weeks old when I was driving into my garage and approaching slowly when the vehicle jumped and took off hitting my garage wall. My reflexes were good and I put the brakes on before there was much more extensive damage. I was quite shaken by the event and did some research for a couple of days before I determined that the event was unintended acceleration. I contacted HONDA corporate on 3/19 advising them of the incident. I was given a case number a was told someone would be contacting me. On Monday 3/23 I phoned HONDA again and was told he was going to expedite my claim an I would definitely hear from corporate by Wednesday 3/25.
On Thursday 3/26 I called corporate again the person I spoke with once again told me my claim would be expedited. She advised me of warranty services including the possibility of receiving a loaner vehicle while mine was being repaired. At that I contacted my local dealership and spoke with service department and subsequently made an appointment to have them check it out on Monday 3/30. I was told by the service department that there was nothing sent to them by corporate regarding my claim. Since the event I have been somewhat frightened about the unintended acceleration happening again. It’s scary to think it could happen while I’m driving into traffic subjecting others to an accident.
In my research I discovered that there have been several model years of the CR-V with complaints of sudden unintended acceleration. I have yet to find the solution. This is virtually a brand new car and very disappointing to have an event like this happen.
Update from Apr 2, 2026 Honda corporate has reached out to me. Awaiting determination.
