AC fan motor makes squeaking/grinding noise when on. Speed of the fan does not affect it. I always have to have my fan setting higher so the noise of the air coming from the air vents is grater than the noise of the fan motor.
Will try to take it out and see if its the motor or something has gone past the air cabin filter and will update.
I brought the car to the dealer a few times. They kept telling me it's normal. The mechanic refused to get into the car to hear the noise but just told me it's normal... I had 3 Civics in the last 10 years... this will be the last one
