Starts cold, then goes away after a bit. It will rev high when dropped into gear, then resume normal rpm when the gear selector is changed from reverse to drive or the brakes bring it to a full stop.

Car idled very fast typically. Intermittently idle was fast enough to be difficult to control the speed of the car with the brakes. Dealer replaced idle air valve under extended warranty which solved the problem.
