I am writing to report a serious tire failure incident involving a Hankook tire that came with my brand-new 2023 Honda HR-V. While driving recently -?" with approximately 16,500 miles on the vehicle -?" the rear tire suddenly blew out without any prior warning. Fortunately, I was able to maintain control and safely stop the vehicle without harm to myself or others. There were no signs or alerts from the vehicle-??s tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS) before or during the blowout. Strangely, the TPMS warning light only came on after I replaced the damaged tire with the spare, which raises concerns about the effectiveness or response delay of the TPMS. I would like to highlight: Tire size : 215/60R17 -??The tire had no visible damage or issues before the blowout, and I follow routine servicing through my dealership. -??As a result of the incident, the rear wheel drum has a very minor bend. -??Unfortunately, the damaged tire is no longer in my possession ( I have changed it), but I do have clear photographs taken immediately after the incident, which I can share upon request. -??The issue has not yet been evaluated by a dealer or third party, but I am open to doing so if needed. This unexpected failure poses a significant safety concern, and I believe it deserves further investigation to ensure no broader defect or issue exists.
