Hi Honda Management, I am Yogesh Singhal resident of Sainik Colony Sector 49 Faridabad Haryana 121001. I purchased Honda Mobilio Diesel having registration No HR51BC 8136 in name of my mother Bimla Devi Singhal in December 2014 from Delight Honda Faridabad, Haryana. We were all delighted to have Honda car first time and hence taken all care products explained to us by aforesaid dealer like Paint Care, Zero Depreciation, additional accessories & warranty etc.

Last seven months, it was a feeling of proud member of Honda family as after small savings accumulated over a period of time and large part financed from bank, we could able to fulfill our dream to buy this Honda car. It came as surprise to me on 15th August when I went outside in Sector 16 Faridabad to have food with my mother and four year old son. While having lunch, there was rain outside and roads were flooded with water as usual. At around 3pm, we observed that car like Tata Nano, Maruti 800, Hyundai Santro could easily pass this flooded road and that gave me a confidence of crossing my car as well whose ground clearance is much better than these aforesaid cars. But all of a sudden, just after crossing 100 meters, my car was turned off. My mother and son were panicked and surprised that Honda Mobilio, our esteemed car, could not cross the road which was not that bad and water level was below the silencer pipe on the back. I tried starting it 3~4 times as any other prudent driver could have done in similar situation.

After these futile attempts to start the car, I immediately called Honda Road Assistance (18001033121) and as advised by them, I did not try to start again. With the help of few people around us, I could safely pull the car to nearby safe place. After waiting of around 3.5 hours, I could get help from Honda Road Side Assistance.

My car was towed down to Delight Honda service station and in morning, I was informed that water has gone inside the car engine from a pipe which is below car body and hence the same needs to be opened. I was rest assured because I had all possible care products plus zero depreciation insurance. However, after I reached showroom and presented my insurance paper, I was told that engine is not covered in insurance and hence the repair charges needs to be borne by me. It was surprises to me as no such information was shared with me during taking insurance at the time buying my car otherwise I could have paid premium for that risk as well.

I called Delight Honda and asked them why this information was not shared with me and the reply was “Sales person should have informed me but nothing can be done now” Also customer is supposed to read all technical booklets and it is not Honda dealers responsibility to share technical information about car and its additional products including insurance.

I am feeling cheated and helpless as I cannot bear such large repair expense and feel, Honda Motor responsible for the same. Dealer is choice and obligation of Honda and any wrongful act of such dealers to customer is responsibility of Honda. I should not be penalized for something for which I am not responsible. As a layman, I am not supposed to know about technicality of insurance products and therefore it is duty of dealers to guide us at the time of purchase.

Further, while discussion with technician, I learned that this engine problem is very common in Honda diesel cars due to design problem which is not in accordance with Indian roads. All this problem happens due to air pipe below body which sucks water.

I request Honda Motors to please rectify this design problem so no other future customers of Honda diesel car suffer the same. Further, customer care and dealer response were very rough and all my pride feeling of Honda family has gone.

- Yogesh S., Faridabad, India
