Last year I had a hitch installed on my passport so I could haul a boat back and forth to the lake. The first time my son took it, he called me and said that the "rear something or the other" light came on and the vehicle simply would not go when the accelerator was pressed. It felt like the brakes were locked. I looked at everything (almost) and finally gave in and took it to the blood sucking dealer. The dealer service dept gave us an estimate of $4000.00 for a new transmission. To make a long story short, somehow I was able to figure out that if I plugged the boat trailer electrical connection into the vehicle's harness backwards, it would blow a fuse that caused all this "lockup" situation. The problem was a $2.50 (for 5) fuse. The dealership wanted to blood suck me for 4 grand!! I went back and demanded a personal meeting with the service manager who really stuck by his service man and insisted there was no correlation between my problem and the fuse. I told him if I were still on active duty and in Iraq or Afghanistan that he would have gotten $4000.00 of my hard earned combat pay because my poor wife would have had no choice but to trust the dealer's "expertise". This poor service manager was ignorant enough to basically call me a liar by saying the fuse had no relationship with my problem when I testified to his face that it in fact solved my problem. I only post this in hopes that a person with the same problem sees this before they get blood sucked for $4K. By the way, the dealership was Darrell Waltrip Honda/Volvo, Franklin, TN. This complaint is definitely not a reflection on the person, Darrell Waltrip who is a fine man.
