After exiting interstate and sitting at traffic light on off ramp, car cut off due to auto stop/start system. We normally push the button to turn this off as we do not like the feature, however, we had forgotten to do this when we first started driving. While sitting at the light and after car engine cut off, I pushed the auto stop/start button to start the engine and cut off the function for the rest of our trip. As soon as I pressed the button, the car made a noise, the brake locked up, and A notification came up on the dash that had an exclamation point said something about system. I could not restart the car because the brake was frozen. After about 5 minutes, the brake release and I was able to start the car. We were in a panic because of the backed up traffic we were causing. Plus we were about 6 hours from home. I took it to the dealer and he could find nothing wrong.

The auto start/stop was the component that malfunctioned. I was at a stop light, and when I went to accelerate the car would not go. It automatically shifted into neutral. I then could not shift to park or drive. It would not let me shut the car down. I was in the middle of traffic when this happened. It caused a safety issue for me and others who had to go around me. I had to put my flashers on and continuously kept trying to shut the car down. I'm not sure what caused my car to restart or allow me to shift into drive, but eventually I was able to do so.

The contact owns a 2019 Honda Passport. The contact stated while the vehicle was stationary in a parking lot, her husband stated that the vehicle lost motive and electrical power. The driver stated no warning light was illuminated. The driver was able to restart the vehicle within 30 minutes. The contact stated she also experienced the failure the following day while driving. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer however, the mechanic was unable to diagnose the failure. The contact continued to experience the failure. The vehicle was not drivable. The contact called the local dealer and was referred to a second local dealer. The contact towed the vehicle to Jim Riehl's Friendly Honda (18900 Hall Rd, Clinton Twp, MI 48038, (586) 412-9600) where it was diagnosed with needing for the battery to be replaced. The contact replaced the battery. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 49,029.

Engine will not start after auto start/stop shuts down the engine after a complete stop. Car requires a jump start to get engine running. Due to design of Honda transmission, car can not be put in neutral an pushed off the road, it blocks traffic until in can be restarted or towed

I stopped at red-light and the auto stop idle was engaged. Once the light changed, and I removed my foot from the brake to disengage the auto idle, unexpectedly the gear just shifted to Neutral. I then had put it in park, and press the ignition start button. It took a couple times before restarting. I had to endure other drivers honking and yelling at me, because I was the 1st car at the stop light. This has happened at least 8-10 times in the past 4 months. After having my vehicle for 3 days, the dealer said they couldn't find the problem. Wih road rage what it is in these times, something like that could spark alot of frustration in other drivers. I have read blogs about other honda passport owners having the same issue. HONDA REALLY NEEDS TO FIND OUT WHAT THE ISSUE IS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS INTO AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE OF THIS ISSUE!

On two separate occasions the vehicle has not started in extreme cold. First Occasion: February 7, 2021, attempted to remote start the vehicle, but the vehicle would not start. Attempted to start the vehicle from inside, but would not start. Called AAA roadside assistance to have the vehicle jump started and the vehicle still would not start. Second Occasion: Attempted to start the vehicle and it would not start. Attempted to use a roadside battery pack to jump the vehicle, but would not start. Hooked the battery up to a truck for 45 minutes, while the truck was running, and attempted to start the vehicle several times, but the vehicle never started. Called Honda roadside assistance and was informed that we would need to wait up to two hours for a tow truck. We waited 5 hours before the tow truck arrived. While waiting I called Dahl Honda of Onalaska for assistance. I purchased a new battery from them. They sent a driver out to deliver it to the parking lot we were stranded in. I installed the new batter but the vehicle still would not start. When the tow truck arrived, we tried to jump the new battery with the Honda employee present, but the vehicle still would not start. The tow truck driver delivered the disabled vehicle to Dahl Honda in LaCrosse, Wisconsin. Each time dealership could not diagnose the problem that caused the vehicle to not start. Was told that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle. The two times the issue has occurred, the outside temperatures were below zero, thus putting my family (two very young children) in danger. The vehicle was inspected by Dahl Honda in LaCrosse, WI and Schlossmann Honda in Milwaukee. No warning lamps, check engine lights, etc.

My Honda passport had approx 10k miles and I was driving down a blind s curve less than 1 mile from my home on a clear dry day. The passport lost power, and when the gas pedal was depressed there was a loud grinding sound but no engagement - it seemed like the transmission was grinding and disengaged, or that power was not being transmitted by the engine. I coasted down to safe spot at bottom of hill, and stopped vehicle, put it in Park and turned it off. Then I started it again, transmission/power seemed to re-engage and I drove straight to dealership. They kept the car and told me they checked and found no codes. I asked about checking transmission fluid and they said they did but I don-€™t believe them. I called Honda corporate customer service and they told me they -€œcouldn-€™t do anything until it happened to me again-€ and that I -€œneeded to address problems and issues with my dealer.-€ (It was dealer who told me to call corporate.) Since this time, I have received notice of fuel pump recall and that has been repaired. I wonder if the loss of power I experienced was fuel pump, or if it was related to transmission issue (same as Odyssey) for the 9-speed transmission.

48 hours after I purchased my 2019 Honda Pilot the transmission blew. I was driving on the highway on my way to a vacation with my car packed for the week and I heard a bang as if I hit something and then it sounded as if something was dragging on the bottom but nothing was there. I was extremely scared because I was stuck alone on the side of the highway because the transmission blew on my brand new car with less that 100 miles. My vehicle had to be towed away and they had to place a brand new engine. I was offered no compensation and they refused to give me a new vehicle.

I copied this from someone posting, since it is exactly the problem I am experiencing and more. 'the engine will just rev higher and higher over 4K revs. I cannot even drive the 25-mile speed limit when this occurs. I have confirmed that the transmission settings are in the standard drive mode during these events. I also informed them that the auto high beam feature does not work properly.' The remote control connect doesn't work. Side sensors work intermitently. It accelerates when releasing the gas pedal but the SUV doesn't pick up speed. It makes loud accelerating noise and slows down instead of going faster. Heater makes pitching noise. These happened city streets and highways. It's not just one time occurance. My car has only 3100 miles

I was driving on the highway at 65mph. All of a sudden the vehicle started to slow down at a very fast rate cutting my speed in half. 2 errors appeared on the dashboard. "transmission problem, apply parking brake when parked." And "blind spot info system problem." Luckily I was able to pull over just in the right time, but the vehicle was starting to get very hard to control while steering as this was all happening. The vehicle started to control me meaning J almost couldn't steer it where it needed to go and I could not accelerate at all on the highway. The vehicle kept slowing down. I was on the shoulder of the highway around a sharp turn and I was terrified that someone would slam right into me. It took a tow truck 1 hour to arrive. The dealer has never heard of this issue before. I'm waiting to hear back from them as they still have M vehicle. Wilde Honda waukesha,

Vehicle with less than 1000 miles. Engine stalled during motion approx 70 mph. Forced to pull over and restart engine but was unable to put into drive but after a minute was successful in starting. Engine stalled two more times after and each time more errors were reported on the vehicle driver display. Errors involved emissions, transmission, engine, blind spot monitoring, and battery. Issue was rectified by Honda dealership but unknown whether or not permanent damage occurred. The dealership fix was to "drain atf fluid and brought to proper level". their diagnoses was that "atf is overfilled." Vehicle has multiple fit/finish/build quality issues leading me to believe that the manufacturer is at fault for this problem and that other issues may be present but unknown. One notable safety issue with the build quality is that all four emergency handle bars are loose.
