Weird that it mainly happens when the winter weather is setting in. It hadn't happened since Feb and now it's happened a few times in Dec. Pulling over, shutting off the engine and restarting fixes the problem. That tells me that it can't be mechanical otherwise it'd always be there. I'm guessing transmission needs a "Flash" or software update. I will ask about it when I take it in to fix hood latch recall.
