Purchased new, drove it for 1 day noticed oil on driveway. checked oil stick almost dry.

Glad I did not go to Vegas or would have burned up the engine. Called Hyundai, they came and picked up the car within 15 minutes (good job). Just got the bad news that they were going to tear down the engine and I will have no car for a week. I was a 20 year Honda owner of 5 cars and never had this kind of problem. It is very upsetting to buy a new car and now they have to tear it up to fix it. I will not feel the same about the car now because it feels like it is used. ( you almost feel like you and your car have been violated). The problem is, by law, you cannot require them to give you a new one.

I was told they had engine seal problems with the 2010 Genesis Coupe but they thought they solved that problem with the 2011. I would have never bought this car had I have known about previous problems. You cannot believe all you hear on the different rating websites.( Car & Driver, Edmonds, etc) never mentioned any of this but rated the car high. I am sure they get some kind of reward for not telling everything to consumers.

What concerns me is that perhaps Hyundai gives a long Warranty because you will need it. Nothing worse then having to take your car in every few months and having them keep your car for a week at a time in order to fix what should not have broken to begin with. Time is money for me even if the work is free but it is not worth the frustrations. I will keep you updated on this and any future problems. I bought the car on looks this time instead of buying a boring reliable Toyota Camry. Was I wrong? Maybe. Time will tell.
