The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid. While driving 4 mph and 65 mph, the vehicle violently accelerated on its own. As a result, the contact's vehicle crashed into another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was taken to kearny mesa Hyundai (4797 convoy St, san diego, ca 92111, (858) 278-7100) where it was determined that the body damage needed to be repaired before it could be diagnosed. The body work was repaired and the contact was informed that there were no failures. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 8,000. The consumer stated the crash is the result of the third incident.

I accidentally backed into a concrete barrier pulling out of a parking spot. I put the car in drive, intended to pull back into my spot, took my foot off the brake and the car accelerated so quickly that I crashed into a Ford truck 2-3' in front of me. The acceleration was so quick, and the impact so strong, I felt like I was in a rocket ship and my license plate was impaled on the truck. This was the third time this has happened since I purchased the vehicle in October 2017. The first time, I was parking in my garage. I was slowly moving my way in when the car accelerated. Fortunately, I was able to stop before hitting the interior back wall. The second time, I was in a parking lot dropping my niece off at a school function. I put the car in park while she jumped out, placed it in drive to pull away, and it accelerated quickly towards another car. I applied the brake and the car stopped but made loud sounds like I had skidded to a stop. It startled and caught the attention of two adults in the parking lot. My passenger was my sister and she asked, 'what was that?'. all three incidents occurred while parking, putting the car into drive, and taking my foot off of the brake. At no time did my foot touch the accelerator. Ironically, after the first two incidences, I was going to see if the vehicle did it one more time. If it did, I was going to contact Hyundai right away. Unfortunately, the last time resulted in today's crash and caused damage to two vehicles. After today's incident I researched the issue and found the problem is not unique to my model. It seems that many Hyundai models have experienced unintended acceleration. To say I'm disappointed, is an understatement. I love my ioniq, and the gas mileage it brings. But I can no longer trust it with my life, the life of family members, or other motorists. I am looking for a resolution from Hyundai.

In a parking lot. Was shifting from reverse to drive at a full stop with foot on the brake. When I shifted vehicle into drive, with foot on brake, engine suddenly revved and car accelerated, moving forward at high speed, unable to be controlled or stopped. Collision into brick building occurred.
