Driving down a 4 lane highway my car refused to accelerate and started shaking vigorously. My vehicles check engine light began to flask on and off. Had to pull off the high way and take the back roads the rest of the way home in fear that it would stop in the middle of the street. As we drove home, every time we would slow down or had to come to a stop the car would continue to shake and rattle with the check engine going and and off the rest of the way home. Took this to the dealership and they stated that I have a burnt exhaust valve on cylinder #2 along with needing a new catalytic converter and told me I should just replace the entire engine. I have 67k miles on a 2017 hyundai Santa Fe.

The contact owns a 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport. The contact stated that an oil change was performed on the vehicle; however, after driving less than 1,200 miles, the low oil pressure warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to Firestone, and the contact was informed that the engine was experiencing abnormal oil consumption. The mechanic added oil to the vehicle. The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked two weeks later, she noticed that oil had leaked underneath the vehicle onto the ground. Additionally, the contact stated that while the vehicle was turned on and parked, she smelled an abnormal burning oil odor. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for an oil consumption test; however, the dealer performed a complete inspection of the vehicle and informed the contact that they could not perform the oil consumption test unless she paid a repair fee for the sparks plugs, the air filter, and two tires replacements. The contact declined to pay for the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.

Upon checking my oil, I realized it was consuming at a high rate. The car dealership said there was no problem with the car. A couple months later I took it to a Hyundai dealership and they said the same thing. Now I am 6 months into owning this vehicle. Same issue. I am putting 4 qt of oil in my vehicle a month. Google said there was recalls on my year for a bad crankshaft that was causing this issue. I called the Hyundai dealership again. They said there is no recall for my vin number. I am having the same problem described. Oil consumption at a high rate. Which is wearing down the bearings in the crankshaft, causing the over consumption. I was told because my SUV wasn't on the recall list, there was nothing they could do until it is put on the list.

My 2017 Santa Fe Sport is consuming about 1.5 quarts of oil every 2 days, and because of this, it's clogging up my fuel injectors, spark plugs, and exhaust manifold which I've all had to replace.

My car began leaking oil. Hyundai said the oil pan was cracked. They indicated this is not under 100,000 miles/10 year warranty. The issue occurred shortly after they did an oil change. It seems since oil leaks of this type are a safety issue, and the cracked oil pan is a common issue, that it may need to be investigated.

My 2017 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport's engine oil light comes on within just a month or two of an oil change. Hyundai service shop told me that my car was possibly burning oil. I learned that this is a common issue with some Hyundai's and Kia's when the vehicles reach around 90,000 miles. Mine began burning oil at around 88,000 miles. I went through what they call the Oil Consumption Test for three months. That resulted in them replacing my engine under warranty, thank goodness. I didn't feel safe for three months knowing that my car was burning oil. It seems this is a common issue that may warrant an investigation and/or possible recall.

Vehicle is burning oil at an alarmingly higher amount than it should. Have filled the oil twice in the last month due to it being low. Have been tracking the oil levels for the past month and it is quickly losing oil (no stains in the driveway, white smoke out of the tailpipe, no oil splatter inside the engine compartment). Have been taking pictures of the dipstick while checking it regularly.

I went to take my car in for an oil change and every time i go in, my car is 3 quarts low on oil. I was told to take my car to the dealership in Hilton Head because the Savannah office couldn't get me in for an appointment for months. Hilton Head service center had me take my car there every 1,000 miles for an low oil consumption test. I was told not to put oil in the car even if the oil light came on which it did like maybe 200 miles before i was due to go back because it would throw off the test at the time. After doing this for 3 to 4 months of back and forth over there, then i was told that i needed to get my engine flushed, and it wasn't covered, so i had to get it financed. After flushing the engine, it did not solve the problem. Then i had to bring in all my receipts from my oil changes to make sure they were done on time. This all had been escalated to the Hyundai corporate office and they then denied replacing my engine because it was out of warranty. I think this is totally unfair that i have to continue putting oil in my car every 7 days as a result of them not replacing my engine. If for some reason i forget to put oil in my engine this could cause a fire or blow up while iam driving.
