The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. While driving approximately 15 mph, the rear brake light failed to illuminate whenever the brake pedal was engaged. The contact was alerted of the failure by a driver in another vehicle. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000.

The contact owns a 2007 Hyundai Sonata. The contact stated that the vehicle had previously been repaired for an exterior light recall. While stopped, another driver informed the contact that three out of four brake lights were non-functional. When the contact inspected, she noticed that the brake lights did not function unless the headlights were on; one of the brake lights on the drivers side did not function even with the headlight on. The vehicle had not been taken to an authorized dealership at the time of the complaint. The current and failure mileages were approximately 47,000.

2007 Hyundai Sonata. Consumer requests reimbursement for replacement brake lights. Consumer expressed a discontent in regards to the cost of the lights themselves and the labor charge for replacement. The consumer stated the dealer replaced the stop lamp switch under recall. However, she believed the reason the brake lights burned out was due to the malfunctioning stop lamp.

The owners manual does not include operational instructions on replacement of the high mounted rear stop light bulb. He was in the process of notifying the manufacturer.
