Steering the car became difficult and a loud whining noise would occur turning right or even slightly moving the steering wheel would cause that noise. Parked car in alley to wait on it to be fixed someone drove onto my property and swiped my car. Have recall on crossmember assembly but is the front covered also?

I have a 2008 Hyundai Sonata and I have well maintained my vehicle but one day I hear a small ticking noise I took it to the dealership and they said it was the spark plugs so I got the full tune up. The very next day the car didnt want to start. Ive tried everything but nothing seems to work. I also did research and a few others were having the same exact symptoms in their cars. Also lots of people were complaining about the 2011 Hyundai Sonatas also. I also found out that they use the same engines for the 2008 I think we alll should get a fair play

12/23/2015. 2008 Hyundai Sonata gls. Steering wheel locked while the vehicle was in motion this evening. I was driving on secondary streets in town at a speed of approximately 30mph when the steering wheel locked and would not turn while negotiating a very slight left hand curve in the road. I braked with intent to attempt to pull over and the steering unlocked and started moving freely again. I had made a 90 degree right hand turn about 1/4 of a mile prior to the steering locking up and had no problem or tightness in the motion. Cause for the incident is unknown. I was not using cruise control, anti-lock brakes were not in use / activated. We did not experience any significant bumps in the road. We reached our destination without further incident and made the return trip also without incident. No police report or insurance claim has been filed yet as of the time of this post.

On 04/08/2014, I was driving with my family when the steering wheel locked; then I stepped on the brake pedal and the wheel became loose and I was able to regain control of my car. Once we got to our destination I parked the car. Later, when I got in the car to return home, my car's ignition switch was not turning and the steering got locked as well. On 04/09/2014, I towed my Sonata car to the dealer at momentum Hyundai: 2775 auto mall pkwy, fairfield, ca 94533 for service. I described the issues to the service agent and I asked him if my issue was a recall and he said "no". the dealer charged me $736.40 for labor and for these car parts: Body & switch ass [fp number: 81910-3K010] cylinder assy-str [fp number: 81920-3ka10] bolt-safety lock [fp number: 81919-31000] note: On 04/06/2014, the steering wheel and the ignition switch had locked; but I was able to pull the steering wheel left and right and the ignition switch finally turned and the car started. But on 04/08/2014, I couldnt solve the issue myself. This is scary, especially when I was driving and had my family with me. GM, and Toyota have recalled millions of cars because of the same issue; and I dont know what hyunday is waiting for to do the same. I hope Hyundai is not waiting on people to get severely hurt to raise a flag and announce a recall on their models. Hyundai should recall its models to prevent the loss of lives. If Hyundai does a recall of its models to solve the issue I have experienced, I would appreciate they refunded my money. Thanks.
