Engines rides very rough. I got to know I drove my friends Toyota Camry. When I compared both, I got know that Hyundai Sonata engine is very rough. Mileage is also bad.

Brought my Sonata into the dealer because my engine was making loud noises and shaking. Thankfully Dealer submitted request to Hyundai for replacement engine and they agreed to replace it. Could take a month plus before they get the engine. What a hassle. I wish I would have done more investigating on this car before buying it. It would have saved me a lot of hassle but thankful they are replacing it. Not too many other problems accept back up camera went out and it will cost over $500 to get it fixed. Not sure I would buy another Hyundai after this. This is a major major repair. They really need to redeem themselves before I consider it.

DRIVING DOWN HWY 270 AND ENGINE STARTS TICKING. I HAVE ABOUT 3 MILES BEFOR I GET TO MY LOCATION. I HAVE THE DEALERSHIP CHECK MY OIL. THEY ASK ME " WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU HAD AN OIL CHANGE? I SAID ON 02/16/2017...THEY SAID THERE'S NO WAY... YOUR OIL IS BLACK. I CALLED MY HYUNDAI DEALER AND TOLD THEM MY CAR IS BROKE DOWN IN BALLWIN, MO

THEY FINALLY CAME AND TOWED MY VEHICLE BACK TO MY DEALERSHIP I GET MY OIL CHANGES FROM. THEY SAID I NEED A NEW ENGINE AND IT WILL COST ABOUT $5000 AT THEIR COST BECAUSE OF THE RECALL ON HYUNDAI ENGINES. SO I GET A CALL OFFERING ME $7400 AND THEN I SAID NO, THE NEXT DAY OFFERED $8900.....

I HAVE OWNED MY 2013 SONATA TURBO LESS THEN 45 DAYS, I DROVE LESS THEN 6000 MILES AND WITHIN 2 WEEKS I HAD SHIFTING ISSUES, STALING, HESITATION, NO ENGINE LIGHTS OR WARNING INDICATORS WHAT SO EVER. THIS HAPPEN TWICE I KEPT DRIVING IT THEN ACTED NORMAL MOSTLY AFTER FEW SEC. OF DELAYING /ACTING FUNNY. THEN I GET ON THE HIGHWAY ABOUT 10 MINS AFTER I STARTED IT AND TRYING TO ACCELERATE AND IT JUST DECLINES AND SLOWS DOWN TO ZERO. I PULL OFF THE SHOULDER TURN THE CAR OFF TRY TO TURN BACK ON CAR WONT START NO POWER TO THE CAR. IT ACTS IF IT WANTS TO START BUT WONT. THE TOW TRUCK ARRIVES HE LIFTS HOOD SEES WIRING SMOKING SO TOWED TO Hyundai. THEY TOOK 3/4 DAYS TO APPROVE RENTAL AND REPLACEMENT OF LONG BLOCK ONLY!!! WITH A NEW REPLACEMENT SUPPOSEDLY THE RECALLED NON METAL TAINTED ENGINE!

HOW WILL I KNOW? I WAS CONFIRMED TO HAVE 120000 MILE POWER TRAIN ON IT. NOW SEEMS MY CAR WAS MANUFACTURED WITH FAULTY ENGINE THAT WAS RECALLED IN CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. HOWEVER HAS THIS BEEN REPLACED ALREADY? WILL IT MAKE TO 120000 WITH OUT REPAIR AGAIN? IS THE 2014 AFFECTED AS WELL? WHAT A MESS!!!!!!!!!!

I have taken my car in several times for regular maintenance and asked the dealership to check out the noise in the engine and they told me that they couldn't hear anything but I can hear it when I start the car and it gets worse when I accelerate. It's not super loud but it is annoying considering my car is only 3 years old. Does anyone have any sopuggestions on what the problem might be?

Sonata 2.4L

Had work done on my car and was told I should take care of the engine light right away. The engine light was never on before!! Now there is a knocking in the engine and was told I need to put a new engine in. Do not buy this car, it will end up costing you a lot of money!!

Update from Oct 6, 2015: So my vehicle has been at the dealership for all most a month now with no results getting done!! Have been going back and forth with the dealer and Hyundai about the warranty!! Horrible company!! I can't believe I have been this long with no vehicle especially seeing how I have a commute to work!!

2013 Hyundai sonata 2.4.

engine idles rough, sometimes up to 4000 rpm, sometimes up to 1500 rpm. more noticeable with the a/c on.

started the same day that we had a transmission shifter clip recall done.

my wife called Hardin Hyundai and talked to a service advisor, he told her that they did nothing that would have caused this rough idle, he also told her that she did not know what she was talking about and that she must provide all service records showing oil changes, and if she had gone over 3000 miles between oil changes that our warranty will be voided. he was extremely rude to her. I run a light duty diesel repair facility and if I ever heard one of my service advisors talk to a client like that he would be reprimanded and written up instantly. but, that is because I care for my customers and want them to come back for all future service and repairs. I guess Hardin Hyundai in Anaheim does not care if they have repeat clients. We will never buy another Hyundai product because of the way they treat their clients. I would recommend not buying from this company. Since this has happened, I brought the car to my work and had one of my techs inspect and diagnose the problem. it turns out to be the a/c compressor which I have looked up on the internet and found out this is a common problem on this car. so, why didn't the service advisor tell her to bring in the car and have them look at it? it is a common problem, did the service advisor not know of this common problem? if not he should not be a service advisor, he should be a porter. again, never buy a Hyundai and never buy from Hardin Hyundai in Anaheim!!!!
