2018 Sonata SEL would not start due to cold weather.

We now have had the Sonata not start and need towing to dealership on Jan 31. It only occurs on cold days <10F. It will start >10F. Unfortunately, we have a significant amount of days <10F.

Unfortunately, it's like chasing a ghost because it appears to be impacted ONLY by cold temperatures, and sometimes during the day it warms up just enough to restart. Normally garage kept, so it'll start but while sitting outside at work and if cold enough it won't go. Jumping will also not work. Holding button down also does not work.

The car will:

1) have a super hard brake pedal 2) have everything else turn on including Bluetooth, fan, etc. 3) not crank / click or anything for starting

The dealership did NOT find anything wrong the first time and couldn't replicate the issue.

Update from Dec 19, 2019: Starter was replaced at 9,000 miles. The safety neutral switch was replaced at 9,300 miles.

Now that 2019 winter is upon us, we have had the car outside in -4F degree weather a few evenings and it fired right up. So far through December the car has started. We will see if this has permantly resolved the issue, but keep in mind this didn't start until January last year (meaning it made it thru Dec.)
