We were traveling at 78 mph in Montana with our cruise control activated. All of a sudden the brakes slammed on for approximately 5 seconds, throwing us forward and then the accelerator pushed down bringing us to a speed of approximately 80 mph. My husband was able to engage the brakes after several tries. We pulled to the side of the road to gather ourselves and have not used cruise control in our travels since this incident. As soon as possible we will be taking the car to an authorized dealer for repairs. The dealer in spokane, wa told us that the cruise control has nothing to do with the braking system and that the vehicle is safe to drive until our appointment.
