This NO LOW OIL INDICATOR occurred right before it went into limp mode going down a 70-mph highway on the way to take it to the dealership for a knocking noise! The 2018 Hyundai Tuscon has 70,000 miles on it and we had to have it towed to the dealership. They (the dealership) have done the routine oil changes every 3,000 miles and it had just had the oil changed about 2,000 miles back. There was no oil in the driveway, so there were no leaks at all. They determined at the dealership garage that it had been burning/consuming oil too fast and was extremely low on oil & this is why the vehicle went into limp mode going down the highway. These 2018 Hyundai Tuscons need to be recalled for faulty low oil indicator light & high oil consumption!

We are the original owner of this car. I do regular oil & filter changes at 5000 miles myself with full synthetic oil. The engine has been consuming oil for about a year, there are no leaks that I could find, no puddles in the garage, etc. It had been consuming about 1 quart between 5000 mile changes until his last time. I had topped off the oil and was getting ready for a change. The engine blew while my wife was driving and there was no engine oil left. There was no indication light, no drop or increase in oil pressure, just started knocking and that was it. What a joke. Last Hyundai I will ever buy.

I do not understand why a brand new vehicle should not give some sort of warning when it is low on oil? And, What good is it to have a warranty if it can not be used. I have vehicles that were 5, 10, and 15 years older and they always gave me some sort of warning that my oil was low, and so I could add some. This Tucson did not give NO WARNING! and now my car is ticking after I checked the oil put 2 quarts or 3 in and then starting ticking. the dealership where I purchased saying the oil pan was dented, and that is why oil was gone. However, there were NO leaks, NO smoke, or nothing. I had it towed to the dealership. Now they say I need a new engine when this one starts, runs(like crap), so I am saying fix what is wrong, warranty it out as it is still under the warranty. My insurance should not have to pay for something that is caused by a faulting sensor that should of gave me warning, and I would have these issues.

Hyundai has well known issue with the engine on the Tucson for the engine oil problem, and has no solution but to replace the engine. This in most cases will be at the cost of the owner if you do not have a warranty. Why has this keep going on at the cost of consumers for years.

Update from May 21, 2023: The Tucson was tow to the dealer who is back log about two weeks, so I have to wait for a tech to look at it. I notes that there are 3 other issue that come down to the engine needing replaced, if it was not broken down to 3 difference issues it look like Hyundai has more engine problem that costing the consumer.
