When refueling the vehicle, the fuel pump handle must be inverted in order to deliver gas. Without such upside down delivery. the pump shuts off.. The Inverted handle delivery creates a health and safety issue as gas can easily overflow the tank fuel filler tube. My wife just spent three days in the hospital after being bathed in gas, and now has heart and vision issues as a result. Jeep has a history of gas filler tube issues. Numerous Internet blogs report the same issue.

I bought my Jeep Grand Cherokee in the end of February 2021 with approx. 52,000 miles on it. All work done to it after this point has been under warranty with me paying all of the deductibles for the warranty work. A couple of weeks after purchase, the problems began. It was overheating, white steam coming out of my exhaust pipes, vibrating very badly, shutting down at traffic lights, amongst other symptoms. As of now, the dealership has replaced 3 new water pumps, and 2 new cylinder heads (both times were issues with the 3rd cylinder). This go round, it-€™s now back in the shop with another misfire with cylinder 3. The dealership has also replaced the EGR Cooler, Ignition Coil, Motor Mounts, Coolant Flush, Lifters & Rockers & it is still in the shop. All repairs done by the same shop (different technicians throughout the past year and a half). I thought it might qualify under the lemon law and called an attorney who asked me some questions but said that it does not qualify in my state under the Lemon Law because it-€™s now past the 60,000 milestone. It now has approximately 85,000 miles on it. I have been without a vehicle approximately 6 months out of the past year and a half and multiple rental car fees (though the dealership absorbed the majority of the fees when it was in the shop this past June/July). A few of the reasons all of this is most upsetting to me: - My daughter and I have broken down on the side of a busy interstate twice (once in the middle of the night) and had to try to get off of the interstate safely so we could be towed - I have been faithfully paying my 'new-to-me' car note ever since I bought it but haven't had much of a chance to drive my 'new' vehicle - My daughter recently got her driver's permit & can't learn how to drive as we are in a rental & it is against the rental company policy to allow anyone else to drive their vehicles. - I have had to take off of work MANY hours due to this This is holding up our lives!

There are numerous safety issues with this vehicle. The most concerning is electrical/fuel/engine relating to the TIPM. The vehicle intermittently refuses to start. The integrated fuel pump relay in the TIPM fails. This has left my wife stranded in potentially dangerous areas. It has also died while the vehicle was in motion. In addition to the TIPM issues, the digitizer of the factory radio/navigation system has delaminated from the LCD screen. The safety issues this causes are multiple: random phone calls while driving (distracting), random radio station changes (again, distracting to a driver), and an inability to properly utilize navigation (potentially dangerous if it tries to change a route and indicates last-second turns). It also prevents the driver from calling someone if they are in need of help. Not only does hands-free calling not work, but even when taking out the phone to dial, the haywire behavior of the device being connected via bluetooth makes calls difficult. These are known issues by the Jeep dealer with frequent warranty replacements admitted by the advisor and technician, yet they have been zero assistance in helping because the vehicle is out of warranty. It will require action from someone like the NHTSA to get Jeep to correct these problems for many owners. It is criminal to charge people this amount of money for a vehicle that simply doesn't do what it is supposed to do.

Sometimes when I try to fill the gas tank on my 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland, it acts like it is full and will keep tripping the safety in the gas pump nozzle and shut off the gas flow. It acts randomly at the same or different gas stations without any warning. Occasionally gas will spray out of the tank, risking my safety and the safety of others near the pump. The only way I can fill the tank when this happens is to turn the nozzle sideways and fill it very slowly. I have checked a car complaint site on the internet and found numerous complaints about the same problem, dating back to 2018.

We have experienced 2 separate episodes of this vehicle suddenly becoming disabled with complete engine shutdown while driving at highway speeds. Both episodes occurred abruptly, engine idling extremely rough, then shutting down within seconds, leaving the car completely inoperable. Both episodes were very dangerous as the car could barely coast to the shoulder of the highway for safety of the passengers. The first episode occurred when the car was a few months old, gas gauge showing over 1/4 tank of diesel gas. Car was towed to the Jeep dealership where they claimed that the car simply ran out of diesel (despite the gas gauge indication) no repair "was required", car filled with several gallons of diesel and OBD codes reset by the dealer, car then ran normally. The second episode occurred one week ago. Again driving at highway speed, 5 lane highway, over 1/4 of diesel remaining on the gauge, sudden violent engine running, sudden full loss of function of the vehicle, nearly in an accident simply trying to " limp " to an emergency stop on the road shoulder. Car required towing to our residence. with the prior experience at the Jeep dealer, despite gauge reading of greater 1/4 tank, the car was filled with 5 gallons of diesel, car started normally. All OBD fault codes insufficient fuel to the engine, fuel rail, fuel pressure, etc. The car has run normally since. I contacted my Jeep dealership and they stated they have no knowledge of any similar issues with this Jeep Diesel engine. The internet and Jeep car forums are filled with identical Diesel engine problems. Either related to faulty fuel pressure regulation or some design fault with fuel level indication affecting the safe operation of this Jeep Diesel engine. these problems date back to pre 2008. We now feel very unsafe to drive this relatively new 2018 Jeep Diesel Grand Cherokee at highway speeds without hovering near the shoulder lane of the road.

I have a reoccurring problem filling up my gas tank. More often than not, I cannot fill the tank. If the tank is on -€œE-€, I can usually only put approximately 8 gallons in my tank before it starts to spew out of the tank and into the overflow tank. I had a nightmare with this just a few days ago trying to put gas in my tank at Royal Farms on Rt. 3. Gas flowed out of my tank yet my tank wasn-€™t full. I am sick of this problem and Jeep needs to stand behind it. I want you to make this a recall. It-€™s dangerous. If anyone at the gas pumps had been smoking, my entire car and the parking lot would have caught on fire.

When filling vehicle, pump will go for a couple seconds and stop, and then you have to hold the lever, and it still stops. I have been to several different gas stations, and have filled my Jeep up at different levels of fueling with the same issue. The pump stops, you hold the level, it stops, and you have to hold the lever and go back and fourth after pump stops. This has been an issue since the day I bought it.

When filling the gas tank, the gas pump clicks off constantly. It happens at multiple gas stations and with different style pump handles. I have to remove the gas pump from the tank and rotate it in order to put gas in my vehicle. I've taken it to the dealership twice for this issue since I bought the Jeep new in 2018. It has been happening consistently and I've read about others having the same issue with the capless gas system in this particular model and year. The dealership does not know how to solve the issue, I fear that I will be in a position that I can not put gas in my vehicle due to this issue.

Similar to multiple reviews posted here, 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee shuts off completely while driving. As of this date 12.18.2019 I have experienced my car shutting off entirely at street to highway speeds (25-65 mph) being unable to restart multiple times (5). As a part of restarting the vehicle one is prompted to place the vehicle in park and activate by pushing the start/stop. - couple of issues there 1) you have to somehow manage to get your vehicle out of the middle of a busy street/highway which likely wont happen. 2) when you realize you cant get into a safe area and put your car in park to attempt restart, the vehicle does not restart at all. This leaves you and your vehicle completely stranded and locked out. Putting personal safety and the safety of everyone else in a highly dangerous situation. And then the cops come tell you they will tow you at your own expense. - I have been lucky enough to jump the vehicle all of the times I have been stranded. Let me be the first to tell you that two cars stopped dead in the middle of a highway performing a jump is 100% a life threatening situation. Now, the vehicle also likes to decide that it just doesn't want to start at erratic intervals. I have now 3 times experienced my vehicle just flat out not starting.once right in the morning at work, once at work trying to go for lunch and the final time being at lunch. It's become painfully clear that the dealership has no idea what is wrong and they are now sending me out on labrat Excursion hoping they fixed an issue they cannot identify. They are doing this knowing full well that the cost of failure could end up being my life.

Capless fuel filler assembly on 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee limited does not allow a standard gas pump to fill tank in a "normal" manner when vehicle is parked at a gas station pump and is turned off. User has to hold pump handle gently in order to dispense fuel. Took my vehicle in for diagnostic service and was told the fuel filler assembly had to be replaced at a cost to me of $316 plus sales tax, as well as a $98 diagnostic fee, as my vehicle is out of the 36,000 mile warranty period. I have read on several internet sites that models of Jeep and Dodge durango have the same issue. I feel that this should be a recall for a faulty part for this model year. I have been driving for 27 years and have owned 3 other Jeep Grand Cherokee, a Honda civic, and a Kia sorento and have never had this problem with any other vehicle. I also travel frequently for work and have driven numerous models of vehicles as rentals and have never encountered this issue.

As I turned into a gas station after driving highway speeds, the vehicle stalled out. I lost power steering and brakes. The dash began flashing put vehicle in park to start. I had to come to a complete stop, place the vehicle in park and then restart it. The vehicle has approx 3800 miles on it with a fresh oil change from the dealership, frontier Dodge. After restarting, the vehicle ran fine.

Transmission thumps, complete loss of power upon acceleration nearly resulting in several mva's. extreme difficulty in getting fuel into the vehicle, constant surges in RPM, dash display goes black, touch screen turns off, goes silent, will not respond, does not recognize key fob and on several instances has allowed me to start and drive vehicle without fob. Mirrors make high pitched whistling noise. Very dangerous vehicle. I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone who values their lives or lives of other drivers on the road. This has all been constant pretty much since we purchased the vehicle new. Dealership has not been helpful. Chrysler is very difficult to deal with. Has happened since we purchased the vehicle new. Very very dangerous

I have a "no start" issue. When the ignition button is pushed to start the vehicle, the starter turns, but the engine does not crank. There are times when it may take up to 10 seconds or so to get the starter to turn off. This is an intermittent problem, but is getting more frequent.

In September of 2018 in an elevated grocery store parking lot, immediately at the moment of a low speed front collision that bent part of the front bumper, the engine RPM spiked extremely high. I then carefully put my foot square on the break and applied pressure before putting the vehicle in reverse so I could park in order to check the damage. As my foot was firm on the brake, while shifting into reverse the vehicle took off at a high rate of speed as the engine RPM continued to violently accelerate and spike. The brake was rock solid and did not activate all, no matter how much pressure I put on it as the Jeep accelerated through the parking lot in reverse, getting up to about 40 to 50 mph before striking 4 other vehicles. At least 2 of the other vehicles were totaled. Only after the Jeep came to a complete stop into one of the parked cars, was I able to turn the engine off and get out to make sure no people were injured. Several pedestrians were walking to their cars at the moment of the incident. No one was hurt but several people could have been killed or seriously injured as a result of the engine throttle/RPM spiking out of control. The experience was completely horrifying. The on duty police officer who I spoke with, who was also present at the time of the incident, did not write a ticket. After interviewing me he determined that I was of sound mind and body and not under the influence of any type of substance. After speaking with several technicians and sales associates at the Jeep dealer, I' was advised to contact Jeep corporate to speak with someone who had the authority to help me resolve this matter. Moving forward my best advise to anyone else would be to check this (NHTSA) website for any manufacturer malfunctions and/or recalls.

Had several issues with this rented vehicle still running after pushing button to stop vehicle when parked. Family members told me 'your car is still on' at least 3 times. Had issues when stopped at an intersection. The vehicle seemed to die & was very delayed when starting to go again-required more pressure on gas pedal than usual. Had issues while filling the vehicle with fuel. Several times the pump would cut off (approximately 10 times) indicating that the tank was full when I knew it wasn't. had a severe issue resulting in damage to the vehicle & the aloha island mart at 50 pakaula St. Kahului, hi 96732 gas pump. I stopped to fuel up in order to return the rental vehicle to budget rental car (865 w mokuea pl, kahului, hi, 96732), I put the vehicle in park, pushed the button to stop the vehicle to turn off the motor. Exited the vehicle to get the credit card out of my purse which was in the back on the floor board in a beach bag I saw that the vehicle was rolling back. There was no slope to the parking lot, it was level ground. I jumped back in the vehicle with left foot outside the vehicle and put my foot on the brake to stop it, it went out of control backwards. Thankfully I got my left foot in and had to use both feet on the break to stop the vehicle. Put the vehicle in park & turned it off again.the door & driver front quarter panel sustained severe damage from hitting the gas pump which also received damage. Although the pump was in workable condition once the vehicle finally started & was moved. This could have resulted in severe bodily damage to myself as well as more vehicle & bodily damage if someone had been behind me at the next pump. Needless to say I was terrified, shaking uncontrollably & the thought of what could have happened. After reading the complaints & recalls on the Jeep Grand Cherokee I feel this one should be added.

My 2018 Jeep Grand Cherokee just accelerated by itself up a sidewalk at a parking lot and ran into the pillar of a building. I then put it in reverse and it accelerated into a car parked beside me. The front axle snapped completely even though the impact was not tremendous. The air bag did not deploy. This vehicle has all kinds of impact sensors and usually brakes on its own even when it senses a leaf from a nearby bush and none of that worked. This happened just yesterday and I'm at a loss as to what to do. I cannot believe my internet search has yielded so many similar stories!
