Patriot 2.0L V4

  • Automatic transmission

After whining, then came the overheating a couple months later, which I never thought in a million years would have occurred. This is where it gets to be a pain in the ass. Having to pull over to let it cool down every so often because I don't have the money to take to get serviced. No warranty on vehicle, which my mother had given to me that at the time was not having problems.

I am disabled so I am on very tight income. I took it to Larry H. Miller in Albuquerque, N.M. and made an appointment just to sit around for two hours for them to tell me "we have to keep your vehicle overnight because we are backed up. Tomorrow is the soonest we can get to your vehicle." At this time I was aggravated. Why do they have you make an appointment if they are just gonna push vehicle to the side, have you wait for hours to tell you that. Kinda pointless I would say.

I left this time and the damn Jeep goes into limp mode while on my way home. Bunch of bullshit. On I40 almost got into wreck. Had to pull off freeway, good thing I was close to an off ramp at time being. About two hours finally made it home.

Patriot LX 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 99,000 miles

Jeep will loose power from transmission overheating/took it to the dealer and I have extended warranty. They want to replace coolant fins that are on transmission. I want to drive 2000 miles and afraid of the same problem. Any body suggest what I should do??? Can I take a trip safely that distance?? The dealer says the transmission fluid needs servicing too, and it takes only CVT fluid that is real expensive. Going to attempt to drive it, any suggestions?

I have had problems with the transmission overheating several times on trips over 70 miles. I have taken back to the dealer, transmission fluid was changed. Service person at dealership told me his wife has the same year Jeep Patriot and she has the same problem. Service person told me there needs to be a transmission cooler added to fix problem but no one makes and aftermarket transmission cooler for the Jeep Patriot. He did tell me if I am in stopped traffic to put the car in neutral and that would help cool the transmission. When I go on long trips and it is over 75 degrees outside I know I am going to have to stop ever so often to let the transmission cool down. Pain in the ass.

Patriot Sport 2.4L

  • CVT transmission
  • 129,000 miles

This problem has been complained about by others. there is no reason that Chrysler should not fix this lemon transmission. Apparently it is in the 2005 to 2010 Patriots. I cannot even get one solution from dealers here in Arizona. Including one of the biggest and some people say the best...Earnhardt....They are terrible...

Chrysler will not reply, but a recent refusal to fix another request for a recall to them resulted in them denying. Some people said they spend hundreds for a fix and it did not work. My suggestion...class action suit.

I would like a care I could drive from Phoenix to Flagstaff without stopping every hour to let the transmission cool down ...otherwise I drive less than 40 miles an hour...and if you do it too long the whole transmission could be ruined completely.

Three years this has been going on. I have to rent a car to leave town if I drive over 20 miles.

They know the problem.....they put in the CVT. They should fix it or give me a new car...but not one of the Patriots with a CVT.
