I hit a pothole on my way to work at 4:55pm on Monday Feb.24,2014. The pothole was at the intersection of cumberland ave and higgins ave.I was going North on cumberland towards talcott ave, park ridge. As I approached higgins ave, red light turned on. I was behind one car when the green light turned on. The car in front of me was able to avoid the pothole, but since I was right behind, I did not. The moment I hit this pothole with my front, left tire my dashboard displayed a message that I have low pressure in the tire. Automatically my wheel started pulling me to the side. I drove up cumberland ave for approximately 1 block and pulled to the nearest side street that was on my right: Glenlake ave. I got out of the car to find a flat tire. By the time I got help, it was 5:45pm. I called park ridge police department asking what I should do and I was directed to file a claim towards my insurance. I wanted to make a picture of the pot hole but considering higgins ave and cumberland ave is a large, busy intersection, I was not able to stop and take a picture. Today, Feb.26,2014, I was going the same way to work and I found the pothole to be patched up. I want to know who will pay for my damaged tire? the pothole must have been very deep since upon impact, I automatically got a flat. I also wanted to add that I was starting off from a full stop. I did not drive more than 15 mph. All in all, this situation is causing me a lot of inconvenience and I want to know if the city of Chicago will reimburse me for the costs that I now have.
