The replacement of the dashboard was completed this week (week of 10/14/2018. Car was delivered on 10/18/18 and left outside. After approximately one hour I went out to pull the car into the garage and noticed the door side panels were wet & sticky. The dash had been replaced and looked fine however the door panel problem was not apparent when they replaced the dashboard.

I contacted Lexus Customer service and was told this was not a recall and since it was cosmetic they would not fix the problem. They indicated my problem surfaced after the expiration date of their extended warranty of May 2017 and so any repairs would not be covered by Lexus.

I have attempted to find out what is causing this problem but to no avail.

I purchased this car in 2015 after searching online for a good price. I bought it in Florida and they delivered to Georgia by driving it. I never really noticed an issue with the sticky door panels since I parked it in the garage often. Then one day I parked in the sun with all the windows up, and oh my God, I got in and my fingers were a sticky mess after shutting the door. Basically, all the plastic below the dash, including the glove box, around the start button, and all 4 doors were sticky. So one day I cracked the windows and tilted the sunroof. The same thing happened but just not as bad.

For a $70,000 car, this is horrible. What's worse is, nobody is offering to fix it. I'm going to call Lexus as soon as possible to see what I can get done. I might even consider hiring a lawyer and or call the local news consumer alert team Atlanta, GA. I am surprised that only 3 people on this site including myself, have reported this.

sticky melting door armrests

The 2007 LS460 door panel armrests hard rubber deteriorates in hot climates. Lexus is aware of this and has a campaign to replace the door panels. That's the good news. The bad news is that they can, and have, excluded anyone based on the VIN, as I was. This is some "per suit of perfection". The possibility of finding anyone who had Lexus replace their door panels is less than being the grand prize winner of Publishers Clearing House. Lexus figured out in subsequent years that putting leather on the armrests is easier than changing the chemical composition of the hard rubber used by a cheap supplier. This was a great car that was otherwise in perfect condition that I hoped to keep for many years to come.

Earlier this year, the door panels in my 2007 LS460 started getting sticky - everybody that got into the car commented (negatively) on this. I was delighted to learn that Lexus had issued a warranty enhancement to cover this on the 2007s, good through May of 2017. I took the car to my dealer (Johnson Lexus of Durham) and they confirmed that this was the problem that they had seen in other 2007s and said they would order the door panels from Lexus. You can imagine my disbelief when they called me back the next day and said "sorry, your VIN isn't covered by the warranty enhancement" and then suggested I call Lexus myself to see if they would do anything about it (why should I have to call Lexus - isn't that what dealers are for?). Anyway, I got the usual runaround from Lexus culminating in them "respectfully declining" to cover this known fault.

This fault should be fixed under their warranty enhancement regardless of the VIN number as the fault is as described in their mailings to owners and dealers.
