NHTSA — Steering Problems

CarComplaints.com Seal Of Avoid Like The Plague

CarComplaints.com Notes: The 2009 Mazda CX-7 appears to share the same engine & A/C defects as the two previous model years: VVT/timing chain failure, turbo failure, & the A/C compressor clutch seizing. The timing chain failure is especially bad with many cars requiring an engine replacement ($9,000+).

In 2011, Mazda began a "Special Service Program" that extended the warranty to 7 years/70,000 miles covering turbocharger oil leaks & excessive timing chain noise — an early sign of timing chain failure. However coverage under the program requires perfect documentation of all required maintenance with other stipulations. Buyer beware.

The contact owns a 2009 Mazda Cx-7. while driving at least 35 mph, a loud noise was heard coming from the steering column and the vehicle drove roughly. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to lee partyka Chevrolet Mazda Isuzu (200 skiff St, hamden, ct 06518 (203) 288-7761) for diagnostic testing, but was informed that the issue was not related to the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 16V593000 (suspension); however, the parts to do the repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and confirmed that recall remedy parts were not available. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

We received the recall notice in August 2016 and no remedy has been made. This is ridiculous. Ball joints and lower control arms are replaced everyday - what's the dam hold up? I called the hotline twice today and was disconnected after being on hold. I guess I have to get my attorney involved with Mazda and ngtsa.

Mazda recall #: 9516E / NHTSA recall #: 16V-356 May 25, 2016 safety risk: An inflator rupture may result in metal fragments striking the vehicle occupants, resulting in serious injury or death. Mazda recall #: 9716H Aug 10, 2016 safety risk: The vehicle may experience significant loss of steering control, increasing the risk of a crash. Both are recalls that state they may result in causing the vehicle to crash or cause serious harm to the occupants in the event of a crash. Both are listed as incomplete; remedy not yet available. The manufacture should have to correct these issues asap. The second states on the form mailed to our home "until this repair is performed, do not allow passengers to ride in the front passenger seat." How is that acceptable when they are aware of the issue? thanks in advance for looking into these issues. My desired resolution is to take the vehicle asap to get them corrected.
