My 2004 Mazda MPV with 140,000 miles on it has had the coil packs replaced for the 3rd time since I have owned it. I feel that it is a recurring issue. $800 + each time. The spark plugs are located 3 upfront(easy access) and 3 in back, which require removing top part of the engine to get to them. Each time, the check engine light comes on, misfires are reported and all six spark plugs are replaced with coil packs. From what I have read on other sites, this is also a known issue with Mazda MPV engines.

Update from Nov 1, 2019: This has been resolved with OEM parts. They are more expensive but I havent had a problem with misfiring coil packs after replacing spark plugs and coil pack with OEM. 267000+ on my MPV van. Still holding up great.

I had the van for 2 months and the Coil in cylinder number 3 went in the motor. It caused the van to jerk when accelerating and was quite and inconvenience, Also the thing has 4 O/2 sensors and they don't last very long, i've already replaced 2 of them because they break constantly.
