This car gave me trouble recently after many months of a bad rattle start up after driving home one night I could hear the car rattling the whole way I thought I had an oil leak and was running the engine too hard but later realized it was coming from the cams and timing chain after looking at comments. On this website I wanted to create a comment, since it’s related to my situation. I probably will do this job on my own and post a video and link it to this comment, I’ll do before and after video. I’m very surprised that there is an any aftermarket camshaft phasers and timing chain. I honestly just want to know what’s rattling so f*cking badly.

I was driving the car when suddenly it start making a loud noise form the engine!!! I turn it off, then it did not turn on.

The next day it turns on when but after 15 mins the voice come back, take it to dealer in Lafayette Indiana, he said it's the timing chain and will cost 9k if the engine is damaged and half that otherwise.

I took it to local mechanic and charged me 500 and that did not fix it, I took it to another local mechanic and he fixed it for $3200. He changed the timing chain and other related parts, the total cost after negotiation 3200. He said it would have been 5k if the engine was damaged - luckily it was not.

Why have a timing chain and not build it so won't fail at 100K?!!!

ENGINE light kept popping up...was being told that it was sensors...next thing when I took it in to the Mercedes benz dealer in Fort Myers , fl was told was timing chain and cam shafts. paid out of pocket approximately $5000 on a car with 42,000 miles. I knew there was a problem when you turned the key and took a couple of tries to start up or was a delayed start up and made a forced sound.

Mercedes Benz knows that their 2012 c250 cars are being rendered useless with only 44,000 miles. You go start the engine one day and hear awful rattling grind noise, then check engine light comes on! The code that it gives is PO34062 intake or exhaust camshaft adjusters are bad&cost$3500 to repair! Apparently MB cares nothing about car quality or helping customer's with this major Manufacturing Defect!!!

Please help us NTHSB to get MERCEDES BENZ to call a formal RECALL FOR THIS 2012C250, so much Stress,Worry and Financial burden to us! Shameful of MB for your greed and not caring for customers by manufacturing a very poor quality car and pretending ,denying your car isn't just a hunk of junk! Think about all us hardworking people who need you MB to place a RECALL ASAP!

My car was hit in the front. Took it into the Body Shop for repairs. Soon after getting it out of the shop there was an intermittent rattling noise and a loss of power sometimes on the freeways. Check engine light came on at the same time so I took it into a mechanic. Mechanic checked the car out, checked all the warning lights and gave it back to me.

However problems persisted with rattling noise on freeway and the check engine light came on again, so I took it back to the same mechanic.

This time they looked deeper at the problem and found fine metal shavings in the engine oil. Car won't start. Suspected timing chain problem. Apparently once the timing chain goes and the engine is rattling the whole engine is shot and needs to be replaced at a cost of $10,000 for parts and service.

Don't know if I will ever buy another Mercedes again after this travesty. Went from a derivable car to a total loss under 50K miles.

Mercedes timing chain, crank shaft adjuster, and tensioner defective. MB dealer is charging $5,350.00 to repair. This is a known issue for the four cylinder C250. Why has a recall not issued? 4th MB and 1st problem like this. This is an absolute deal breaker for future MBs if there are no concessions of some sort.

Mercedes-Benz has a clear and evident issue with their C250 Model. I have taken great care of my 2012 C250. I have had all proactive Maintenance performed including all Oil changes. The Camshaft Adjuster failing is a Manufacture defect. This is an issue that SHOULD be resolved by Mercedes-Benz via a Recall. I am sure that Mercedes-Bens is aware of this issue, and it is very disappointing a company such as Mercedes-Benz will not acknowledge and resolve this major issue.

car rattled when starting. Was told I needed a new timing chain and tensioner and bands. Was also told that this is a major defect with the C250 and that the repair team at Mercedes is shocked this hasn't been listed as a recall. How can we get this recalled so we get reimbursed for the $$ we put out.
