The front, interior door handles on my 2006, Mercedes, C350, Sport, snapped off and broke in September 2009 with only 38,000 miles on it. When looking at the area where they broke, it's fairly obvious there was a design flaw, which made them very weak at the top when pulling the door shut.
I took the vehicle in for my regular service to the dealer and showed them both handles. The dealer said almost every car with those types of handles break at the same place. They also said the only way to fix the problem is to purchase new ones and have them installed. The dealer also said due to the poor design of the handles, after 2-3 years, the new ones would more than likely break in the same place again. Unbelievable!
Has anyone had the same issue with their handles? If so, was anyone able to resolve the issue without having to buy new ones and pay for the installation?
Thank you for your time.
