Received the car new in November 2013 and immediately reported that the drivers side view mirror would not adjust to the left enough to adequately see vehicles in the left lane. The blind spot was the largest I have ever seen on any vehicle that I have driven. It would adjust to the right far enough to see the front seats inside the car but would not adjust enough to the left to adequately see the left lane next to the car. The view was of the side of my car and a little of the left lane. In the first two weeks of driving I almost had two accidents when changing lanes on a highway. I now have to completely turn my head and look out the back seat side window to see if there is another vehicle there before changing lanes. The dealership has worked with Mercedes and changed the mirror and the mirror motor to try to correct this but it has not. They told me in June that Mercedes was addressing the issue for the 2015 model and that I would get a new 2015 mirror when available. They installed the new 2015 mirror in December but it is exactly the same as the 2014 mirror. This is a big safety issue in that the view from the side view mirror is not much better then the rear view mirror. There are many complaints about this on the Mercedes Benz blog.

Driver left side mirror does not give adequate view of traffic on highway to left of driver. It cannot be adjusted far enough so there is an excessive blind spot. I dare not change lanes to left without turning my head excessively, and this presents a risk when driving at highway speed. This is not the case with the right side mirror. Also, we have a 2012 Mercedes C250 and this does not have the problem.

CLA250

Driving on highway at 70 mph when I nearly caused a collision because I encroached on another car's space in the next lane to my left. I believe this was due to the fact that the Cla250 driver side mirror does not adequately cover the blind spot and does not provide safe and effective view of the left lane. The mirror is adjusted all the way out but can only see the quarter panel of the Cla250. During my near-collision, I did physically turn my head and shoulders to view the traffic on the left lane (three lane highway). It was clear. As I was about to switch into the lane 2 seconds later, another care was already in the space that the Cla250 side mirror did not give me a second opportunity to view. I believe this is a defect in design and presents a hazardous condition.
