I was driving my 2014 Mercedes CLA 250 on [XXX] traveling away from Fairfax County and towards Prince William County on Christmas morning right before [XXX]. The front right passenger side wheel started shaking and then flew off. I brought the car to a stop on the left hand shoulder of the road on three wheels. My wheel hit the metal fence and then ricocheted back across to the left crossing both sides of traffic (four lanes), hitting a concrete wall and becoming airborne before landing in the stream below. It was sunny and there was no rain. Speed was 45 mph. Witnesses observed the incident and I have their contact information. A police report was filed. Good day, I am attaching photos of a failed rim from my 2014 cla 250. The car has just over 54,000 miles on it and the failure-crack has propagated to where the tire will no longer hold air and car is not safe to drive. This is the 2nd failed rim, the first cracked in a similar fashion at just over 44,000 miles and was replaced by my local Mercedes dealer at not charge. They will not replace the 2nd failed rim. While we live in the mid-western usa (Chicago area) where the roads are rough and there are potholes, there is no evidence of damage or deformation in the area where this crack formed. It's unacceptable that Mercedes-Benz will not stand behind their product. I have been driving in the Chicago area for 40 years and have never, never had a crack in a rim like this. I believe this is a design defect that Mercedes-Benz needs to correct and replace faulty rims on owners cars. Please feel free to contact me for any additional details you need. I will be sending this same message to the NHTSA. Thank you, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the Freedom Of Information Act (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6).

Tires lose air all during these 3 yrs that I had this car lease, always at the dealer, I'm afraid for my safety due to the imbalanced tire pressure. Can't make plans to drive it far, afraid tires might cause me to lose control and create an accident!! many times I can't go right away, because it takes time out of my life.... I work 12 hour days, I bought this luxury car for its name and its reliable, actually it's the opposite because they are not able to fix it!!! frustrated!!

My tires had less than 15K miles and the tire has a bulge on the sidewall. I mentioned to the dealer and they said that is normal for these tires. It now has 35K miles on the tire and it will not pass Virginia state inspection. I now have to buy 2 to 4 new tires due to this defect poor workmanship. The dealership said that this is not covered under road hazard and everyone is telling me it happened going over a pothole. The tire is now dangerous to drive on and can have a blow out at anytime. This is an unsafe condition in that the tires are new and should have bulged out like this rendering them unusable. Pzero 225/40R 18 92H

I am writing to raise serious concerns about the run-flat tires installed on my 2014 cla 250. After 12,830 miles, I experienced my first flat tire. After consulting the owner's manual, I learned that I had run-flat (moextended) tires and could proceed (having the ability to drive 50 miles on the flat, according to my manual). I was shocked to learn that this tire, could not be repaired and that my only option was to purchase a new tire. On 8/29/16, I was traveling South on highway 101 in a very rural part of humboldt county in northern California, and experienced another flat tire (again with one of the factory installed tires). From a deserted gas station in a place called weott, I tried to call Mercedes-Benz roadside assistance but after being put on hold and trying to navigate the menu, I gave up. I knew that there were only small towns for approximately 75 miles South of me, so I chose to return to fortuna (where my sister lived), approximately 20 miles to the North). The mileage at the time of this flat was 22, 684. Just a few miles away from my destination, I pulled over because the vibration in the car had turned to shaking and I was finding it very difficult to control my vehicle. I became frightened that I might lose control. I must reiterate that at this point I was extremely frightened for my safety and pulled over on the side of highway 101 and called for a tow truck. I had driven cautiously for only 25 miles on the flat tire, nothing near the 50 miles promised in my auto manual. At the tire center, I opted to purchase two non run flat tires. 1) is there a quality issue that needs to be investigated regarding the factory installed moextended tires? 2) clearly the moextended tires are not designed to be run when flat for 50 miles, and that needs to be changed in the auto manual.

Since I bought this car brand new in December 2014, I have had to replace all 4 tires at least twice each. They constantly get bubbles on the sidewalls. I have the sports edition, so I have the Goodyear runsflats which cost over $350 each.

The factory tires on the Mercedes Benz cla 250 are defective. All 4 tires got bubbles in them which is a danger to anyone driving as the tires could blow at any time. These bubbles are not obvious so I didn't know about them until I brought in for service. Less than a year all 4 tires had issues and after doing research I have seen multiple posts about these tires and bubble issues. Goodyear F1run flats.
