mute horn due to airbag wiring faulty Initially we had intermittent sound at certain angle for the horn which we didn't notice as we don't usually use the horn unnecessarily. We highlighted to the service center during our usual servicing schedule and was informed of the diagnose as faulty airbag wire which is causing the horn problem. Which means the airbag wasn't working or rather it will not work if there happen to be a crash or an accident as the sensor wasn't working due to the faulty wire. We were asked to change the airbag wire and the censor to fix the problem at our own cost as it is no longer under warranty and classified as "due to wear & tear of the car". My question is, aren't the airbag supposed to be an important safety feature? How could it be affected to wear & tear of a car? Furthermore, it's internal wiring which will not indicate any signs of faulty. Unlike the tyres or lights. We wouldn't have found out about it if our horn did not give way. It would've been a nasty finding otherwise. Lately Nissan had a major recall due to the faulty airbag system/ wiring for their Sentra model. we called their Customer service to inquire if our problem is similar but was told the recall is only for that particular model and not of ours. But the symptoms are the same, the airbag will not inflate if there were an accident! Faulty wiring system. Their Customer Service are not helpful at all, they are just being like a robot repeating the same thing again & again, not even taking an initiative to find out further or escalate the problem for further checking as it could be one of the new finding or 1 off problem for this particular model. Do they need for an accident to take place or for life to be lost in order for them to check it further and action on it? Can this be escalated to the rightful person or department of Nissan manufacturing plant instead of passing it to robots who are not programmed to think out of their standard settings? Please advise as there could be many more facing the similar problem who have yet to discover about it. Regards, MNair
