I was driving my vehicle in a parking lot, but it seemed like it wasn't getting power. So, I shut it off and when I tried starting it again the fans and lights came on but nothing else. I took it to Firestone and they said it was the starter. They replaced the starter and that didn't fix the problem. They changed the atecu fuse. It started and ran for three minutes and then died again. Then I took it to an electrical shop. They couldn't find anything wrong. Then I took it to the Nissan dealer and they said it was the brain ECM. They fixed that and it still wouldn't start the car. Then they said it was the ECU and transmission. They said the transmission was no good due to cross contamination (radiator fluid into the transmission). This is a Nissan defective radiator and they charged $5500 for a mistake that wasn't my fault.

Ref recall 08V690000. Why would our truck not be part of this recall?. we live in an area which is surrounded by ocean so salt corrosion is common. I know several others that have similar issue not only Frontiers. I understand the front crash sensor corrosion is common. Please do something about this before someone gets hurt due to airbags or deploying due to this common sensor issue.

While driving the truck will shut off just like the key was turned off. This happened one or two times a day over a ten day period, I swapped my old key with my wife's key and the problem went away. I took it to a Nissan dealership and they wanted to do $7000 of repairs and nothing about the key and ignition switch problem. So I have been using my wife's key for the past five days and no issues. Nissan claims they never had any problems like this although the internet shows a recall in 2010 for 2003-2006 Frontiers for a very similar problem.

The contact owns a 2008 Nissan Frontier. While the vehicle was parked, it caught fire and flames and smoke emitted from under the hood. The fire department extinguished the fire. A fire report was not filed and there were no injuries sustained. The fire department stated that the fire was caused by a short circuit in the battery. The vehicle was towed to the contact's house. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that they could not assist because there was no known safety issue and the vehicle was out of warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000. The VIN was unavailable. Updated 06/29/17

When the fuel tank is filled, the fuel gauge indicator will drop to the bottom (empty setting) and the check engine light will come on. After driving a short distance, the gauge will gradually move up. The process will repeat itself with the service engine light sometimes remaining on and other times it will turn off.

My horn stopped working back in Dec. 2014. Then come to find out if I turn the steering wheel to the right it will work. If you push on the right of the wheel. So I finally put it in the shop on 02-17-2015. Then today I was told on 02-20-2015 it is electrical. It has two parts to the horn. Plus getting no electrical to the airbags. I was told if I had gotten in a wreck they would not deploy. So that really made me mad. I had to finally break down and get a rental car because it is still in the shop. Plus I have read a lot of complaints from other people on this about there horns and airbags. Don't understand why there is no recalls on these items.

Left work about 4 days ago at night when I was driving on the highway and the truck cut out on me(no gas pedal) so I look down at the voltage gauge and its reading about 10V..... so I thought to myself "ok well maybe the alternator finally went after all the [xxx]I put it through." Went to pull over and here is where it gets weird, I went to hit the brakes and the pedal went to the floor, I coasted to the slow lane and turned my acc. Off and got it back home safely. Long story short I tested the alternator and battery, both of which were shorted/old/dead.... replaced both at the tune of $191 for the alternator and $70 for the battery. Now, I hooked everything up today. Started the truck... volt gauge is back at 10V... then I see a small amount of smoke from under the hood, shut the truck off to find that the brake lines going from the master cylinder to the ABS module are smoking... and the lines leaving the module are as well. I cooled everything down, went inside to grab a drink (4-5 min) and came back out and the truck was completely dead... unhooked the battery and put it on a trickle charger for now. 6- days after buying a brand new 2008 Nissan Frontier 2wd/SE crew cab the cruise control would not stay on.on the day I went to take it back to the dealer the truck would not start, I had it towed back to the dealer where they worked on it for a week.they stated that sometimes it would start and other times it wouldn't, they said they had to call the Nissan tech line that instructed them to check several different things but it still would not start so the tech line told them to replace the -"ipdm E/R".they said the truck was then fixed and to pick it up. I picked up the truck and went approximately 2-miles to a store and when I came back out the truck would not start again, I had it towed back to the Nissan dealer again.this time they worked on it for 6-days and they said --"checked wiring going into ipdm box, found when wiggling wires they could here a click and then the vehicle would crank, they unplugged wiring and traced wire back into main engine harness, found wire was spliced to itself and had a loose connection, repaired wiring and confirmed operation, programmed all keys together, cleared all codes, cleared self learning control, relearned idle air volume and recalibrated steering angle sensor".they had me pick up the truck again on 9/10/08 and so far it is ok.
